Remedy Entertainment, the developer of Alan Wake 2, is providing PC requirements for the highly anticipated survival horror sequel, just a week before its global launch. Fans are thrilled about the fresh direction Alan Wake 2 will take, as it aims to incorporate full survival horror elements while still maintaining the eerie and atmospheric visuals that made the series popular. Previews of Alan Wake 2 have received accolades for its stylish and psychological thriller approach, although PC gamers should be aware that the impressive visuals come with a technical demand.
Remedy Entertainment, the developer of Alan Wake 2, recently shared the PC requirements for the highly anticipated game on social media. In addition to the minimum specifications for PC players, Remedy also provided recommended, ultra, and ray tracing specifications for low, medium, and high settings.
For gamers looking to play at 1080p / 30FPS, the minimum requirements are an RTX 2060 / i5-7600K combo or AMD equivalents. For those aiming for 4K gaming, at least an RTX 4070 is necessary, while the top-of-the-line 2060p experience with ray tracing calls for an RTX 4080. However, to enjoy the game at 1440p or even 1080p / 60FPS, a graphics card from at least the RTX 30 series or an AMD equivalent is required.
Upon initial examination, the requirements may appear to be quite demanding. The RTX 2060 / i5-7600K combination is not too far from the updated recommended specifications for Baldur's Gate 3. However, it is important to note that this combination is merely the minimum requirement for Alan Wake 2. Alan Wake 2 recommends at least an RTX 3060 as the lowest GPU option, with the RTX 3070 being mandatory for ray tracing capabilities.
Some gamers have already expressed their dissatisfaction with the higher requirements in the comments section. Fortunately, Alan Wake 2 is not limited to PC alone. The game will be released simultaneously on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, ensuring a current-generation gaming experience. The outlined requirements emphasize the need for high-quality cinematic gameplay, which inevitably comes with specific technical demands on the PC platform.
Alan Wake 2 will be available on October 27 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Additionally, there are currently excellent deals on CPUs and GPUs for PC gamers. Prices for Intel Core i5 and i7 processors are decreasing, as well as the RTX 30 and even RTX 40 series graphics cards. Similarly, many of the AMD equivalents are also experiencing price reductions.
