Masamichi Yaga is held responsible for prompting Geto and Gojo to initiate the Shibuya Incident and is given the capital punishment. Yuji, whose death sentence was lifted thanks to Gojo, is once again condemned to death, with Yuta as his executioner.

Based on the manga, Yuta is carrying out Gojo’s instructions. During Season 1, Gojo temporarily left the country while entrusting Yuji to Nanami. As Yuji is considered legally deceased, Nanami is the most capable and reliable person Gojo could rely on. Gojo encounters Yuta in Africa and requests him to take care of Yuji in case anything happens to him.

As the strongest sorcerer of the modern era, Gojo's sealing leads Yuta to believe his sensei is joking. However, the reality remains that Gojo is indeed sealed, and Yuta must return from Africa. In order to ensure that no one else can target Yuji, Yuta expresses his resentment and becomes Yuji’s executioner. The elders' skepticism leads him to use a Binding Vow to solidify his plans.

Someone as talented as Yuta can easily find a loophole in the Binding Vow. In the manga's Yuji’s Extermination arc, Yuta battles Yuji, who puts up a good fight but is ultimately no match for a special-grade sorcerer. Yuta fulfills the requirements of the Binding Vow by killing Yuji for just a second, then immediately heals him with the Reverse Cursed Technique a second after his heartbeat stops.
