Craig, as the star and executive producer, could you share with us how you arrived at the concept for the first scene of the season, and what motivated you to steer the story in this particular direction?

Claudia, how would you characterize Jillian and Craig's relationship in this season?

Claudia O'Doherty acknowledges that Craig's attitude towards her has evolved from mere tolerance due to circumstances, like being paired up in a snake hunting competition, to actively choosing to work together. She observes that their relationship has grown because they genuinely care about each other and share a strong loyalty.

Craig, I remember you having extensive experience with snakes in the previous season. Without divulging any major details, did you find working with an alligator more nerve-wracking than working with snakes?

Craig Robinson: Personally, I prefer working with snakes over alligators due to their unpredictability and ability to perform the death roll. So, if we're talking about working with animals, snakes are my choice.

By the way, I came across an old interview where you mentioned that an alligator was captured on set during the first season. I'm curious if the reference to that incident in any way influenced your decision, or if it was purely coincidental.

Craig Robinson believes that the reason for the inclusion of the intimidating swamp farm family in the story is simply because the writers wanted to introduce them, rather than it being a deliberate reference. Claudia O'Doherty describes the concept as being representative of the Floridian culture.

Craig Robinson: So Floridian. Whoa, that gator was massive.

Throughout the early season, there are instances where Jillian completely loses control, and I absolutely adored that. Which aspects of her character do you find the most exhilarating to portray?

Claudia O'Doherty: It was incredibly enjoyable to unleash some of Jillian's hidden anger, which, as it turns out, she possesses in abundance. That experience was truly exhilarating. Additionally, I was taken aback by the stunt rehearsals, particularly when I found myself attacking a stuntman with a rubber steering wheel; it was a moment of utmost astonishment.

Craig, you have a diverse range of talents including stand-up comedy, acting, and music. When you are working on a project as involved and time-consuming as Killing It, do you maintain a focus on your other pursuits or do you prefer to dedicate your attention to one at a time?

Craig Robinson: Absolutely. I make it a priority to stay up-to-date with my stand-up comedy, which also incorporates music. I strive to stay current and prevent any skills from becoming rusty. When we filmed the first season in a vibrant city like New Orleans, it was an exhilarating experience. Being in a completely different environment allowed me to develop a plethora of new jokes and experiment with fresh material.

That applies to our time in LA during this season's shooting. I make an effort to remain on stage, particularly if I anticipate an early finish. However, it's not the same as when I am not working. Last night, I had two shows, and I also performed on Sunday right after arriving from Miami. Additionally, I have two shows scheduled for tonight. Nonetheless, I strive to maintain the momentum.

Claudia, I thoroughly enjoy observing the chemistry between the two of you; the way you complement each other in scenes is truly amazing. Obviously, you are both seasoned professionals, but were there any instances where it was challenging for both of you to maintain your composure?

Claudia O'Doherty: That scene when Mike Mitchell was falling through the door. The same with Tim Bagley—

Craig Robinson: Tim Bagley’s the worst.

Claudia O'Doherty: The scene was brief, but his humor was incredibly entertaining, making it difficult to keep a straight face.

Craig Robinson: Mike Mitchell performed a move that was absolutely hilarious. I was forewarned about it, and though I hadn't met him before, I'm grateful for his presence. Also, Tim Bagley and I have a long history together, and it's nearly impossible not to burst out laughing even before he delivers a funny line. So yes, there were countless moments like that.

You've had a multitude of incredible individuals make appearances as guest stars throughout the season. I understand that you can't play favorites, but were there any in particular that you were genuinely thrilled to collaborate with or had exceptionally enjoyable experiences working alongside?

Claudia O'Doherty: They were truly fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with Beck Bennett. His comedic timing is impeccable, and his character's journey is incredibly poignant. Each time we encountered him, his appearance became increasingly dire, and it provided uproarious amusement.

Craig Robinson: The swamp family, or rather, the swamp mafia family, left quite an impression. The children were both terrifying and hysterical, constantly surprising us with their spontaneous and unseen sketches. Hopefully, these moments will make it to the extras or something similar, as they were truly incredible. It's hard to believe that they had just met when they joined the show, considering how seamlessly they worked together.
