The event also included a Pokemon Presents with various announcements like upcoming Pokemon Cafe Remix events and the introduction of Paldea Pokemon to Pokemon GO. A major highlight of the event was the update on the upcoming DLC, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, providing fans with details on what to expect when exploring Kitakami and Blueberry Academy.

While players can anticipate enjoyable and rewarding discoveries in the first part of the expansion, The Teal Mask, there are also intriguing elements in The Indigo Disk. One of these is the presence of Blueberry Academy's unique student-powered Pokemon League called "The BB League," which offers a smaller and faster alternative to gyms that players can explore after completing the main story of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The BB League concludes with its own Elite Four to defeat. However, if this trend continues beyond Generation 9, it could become a cause for concern.

The Indigo Disk's Elite Four Comes With a Catch

In The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, The Indigo Disk serves as the concluding part and finale of the DLC. It is designed to bring players back to Paldea, allowing them to delve into the significance of Area Zero in the region's history, as well as the overarching story of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. However, access to this content is only granted once the main storyline is completed, including all three branching storylines featuring Penny, Nemona, and Arven. In order to progress, players must defeat the eight gyms, the Elite Four, and Champion Geeta as part of the Victory Road storyline.

Upon reaching Blueberry Academy, players should be prepared with a team at approximately level 70 or higher. The terrarium located within the school will house formidable Pokemon and trainers, posing a significant challenge. The Elite Four of the BB League have been designed with this in mind, aiming to test the limits of every Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trainer and assess their readiness to uncover the truth concealed within Area Zero.

While the inclusion of a second Elite Four in Scarlet and Violet may seem exciting, fans are understandably skeptical. The previous Elite Four in the Paldea region was considered lackluster and disappointing by experienced players. While the BB League may attempt to improve this, having a second Elite Four should not become a standard in future generations. The Elite Four has always been viewed as the ultimate challenge at the end of each Pokemon game, and it is an integral part of the game's formula. It should not be reserved for a secondary version or DLC. Therefore, in Generation 10, the base game's Elite Four should strive to be better than its predecessors, rather than relying on post-launch updates to fix its initial lack of challenge.
