The new Power Rangers team for Cosmic Fury will not include a Pink Ranger, which is a departure from the original lineup of Red, Blue, Yellow, Black, and Pink Rangers. While the Power Rangers typically follow the color scheme of the Super Sentai series, there have been instances of exclusive Power Rangers characters. The Pink Ranger legacy, from Kimberly in Mighty Morphin to Amelia in Dino Fury, has been a significant part of the franchise. Despite the presence of Pink Rangers in most Power Rangers teams, the upcoming Cosmic Fury will not feature a Pink Ranger.
Power Rangers Cosmic Fury Doesn’t Have A Pink Ranger
In Power Rangers Cosmic Fury, a sequel to Dino Fury, there will be a change in ranger roles. Amelia, the Pink Ranger from Power Rangers Dino Fury, will now become the Red Ranger in Power Rangers Cosmic Fury. Zayto, previously the Red Ranger, will transition to Cosmic Fury's Zenith Ranger. The Gold Ranger Aiyon, Green Ranger Izzy, Black Ranger Javi, and Blue Ranger Ollie will retain their respective colors as they continue into Cosmic Fury. However, no new Pink Ranger has been introduced for Cosmic Fury, resulting in the absence of two of the original Power Rangers colors in the show's 30th season.
Cosmic Fury is based on Uchu Sentai Kyuranger, a series that does feature a Pink Ranger. However, only footage from Kyuranger will be used for Zord and Megazord battles, as well as for monsters in Cosmic Fury. The Power Rangers costumes in Cosmic Fury are completely original, including their designs, which is a first for a Power Rangers TV show. The helmets in Cosmic Fury resemble those from Dino Fury, but the rest of the suits are not connected to any Super Sentai. This innovative approach has allowed Power Rangers Cosmic Fury to introduce new elements, such as the Zenith Ranger. Additionally, Cosmic Fury does not include a Yellow Ranger, similar to Dino Fury.
Why Dino Fury’s Pink Ranger Will Become Cosmic Fury’s Red Ranger
Power Rangers Cosmic Fury, despite its new name and costumes, is essentially a sequel to Power Rangers Dino Fury. As a result, the plotlines established in the previous Power Rangers TV show were expected to influence the new series. This includes the significant revelation at the end of Dino Fury, where the Pink Ranger, Amelia, was unveiled as the long-lost daughter of the villains Void Knight and Void Queen. Given that a significant part of Dino Fury revolved around Amelia, it is logical for her to transition from Pink Ranger to the new Red Ranger and team leader in the current series.
Amelia is not the first female Power Rangers character to lead a team, nor is she the first female Red Ranger. However, in Cosmic Fury, it is the first time that Power Rangers features a female Red Ranger leading an entire season with a team of Rangers. In the past, even when female characters led the teams, such as Jen in Time Force or Taylor in Wild Force, the Red Ranger often took the lead and served as the face of the season. Amelia, as the Red Ranger in Cosmic Fury, breaks away from several long-standing Power Rangers conventions that date back to the Mighty Morphin era. This is a crucial moment for the franchise.
Other Power Rangers Teams Without A Pink Ranger
Cosmic Fury will not be the first Power Rangers season to go without a Pink Ranger. An example of this is the mini-season called Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers, which took place between Mighty Morphin Power Rangers season 3 and Power Rangers Zeo. The season Power Rangers Wild Force in 2002 was the only complete Power Rangers season without a Pink Ranger. Power Rangers Ninja Storm, which followed Wild Force, also did not have a Pink Ranger and began with only three Rangers - Red, Yellow, and Blue. Power Rangers Dino Thunder had a similar situation, starting with just three Rangers and never introducing a Pink Ranger.
The list of Power Rangers seasons without a Pink Ranger also includes Power Rangers Jungle Fury and Power Rangers RPM. Considering that Cosmic Fury could be the final season of Power Rangers in its current format of Super Sentai adaptations, it can be disappointing that it will not feature two of the original Power Rangers colors. However, in the context of the story, it makes sense for Amelia to transition from being the Dino Fury Pink Ranger to the Cosmic Fury Red Ranger. Additionally, the introduction of a new Power Rangers color - Zayto's Zenith Ranger form - is also something to look forward to. Kimberly's Pink Ranger legacy continues, now with a former Pink Ranger taking on the role of the Red Ranger.
