Unveiling the Mystical Realms: Diablo 4 Lore Book Hints at Epic Expansion Destinations

The Book of Lorath, Diablo 4's captivating lore book, delves into post-campaign events, intriguingly foreshadowing potential expansion locations

The Book of Lorath has potentially hinted at the future locations for Diablo 4 expansions by revealing significant events that occur after the main campaign. This lore book provides players with substantial clues about their potential next destinations. Be advised: spoilers for Diablo 4 and the Book of Lorath follow.

Following the dramatic finale of Diablo 4, players are left hanging on a precipice. Neyrelle, having fled with the soulstone containing Mephisto's essence, is being pursued by Lorath Nahr, who is now the sole surviving Horadrim. Meanwhile, the player and their allies are being relentlessly hunted down by the Church of Light.

Although the main storyline of Diablo 4 is currently on hold until the expansion release, readers can turn to the companion lore book, the Book of Lorath, to discover what happens next. Written within the game's universe by Lorath Nahr himself, the book provides a comprehensive account of the events that took place before, during, and after the events of Diablo 4. As Neyrelle embarks on her journey across Sanctuary in search of a way to permanently vanquish Mephisto, Lorath diligently follows her trail, uncovering letters she has left behind along the way. Wowhead has conveniently compiled these letters, along with a helpful map illustrating the duo's travels. In the map, Neyrelle is symbolized by the soulstone, while Lorath is represented by the Horadrim icon.

Neyrelle went to the following locations on her odyssey:

She visited Lorath’s cabin outside Kyovashad, leaving him the first letter.

She passed through Yelesna, which fell to Hatred’s corruption from her presence.

Neyrelle journeyed across the Twin Seas, departing from Kurast. However, her arrival in the city reignited age-old animosities stemming from Mephisto's rise to power seven decades earlier.

As she reached Ivgorod, the very place where Diablo 3 Monks originate, Neyrelle's whereabouts became unknown. It was in this city that she underwent rigorous training from the hesitant sages, learning the techniques to resist the corrupting influence of Mephisto.

Lorath embarked on his pursuit, venturing to familiar destinations such as Westmarch, Tristram, and Lut Gholein, but found no traces of Neyrelle in these places. He also explored new territories like the Skovos Isles and Xiansai, the native land of Diablo 3's Wizard class. Whether it be renowned locales like Tristram or fresh ones like Ivgorod or Xiansai, the Book of Lorath encompasses a vast range of possible destinations for players in Diablo 4's upcoming expansions.

Regardless of the path chosen, the situation appears grim. As described in the Book of Lorath, the Cathedral of Light has taken hold of the Horadric Vault, and Neyrelle seems to be struggling against Mephisto's corruption. Only time will reveal if players can aid Neyrelle in avoiding the dreadful fate of becoming a vessel for the Lord of Hatred.

Diablo 4 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
