Continuing from the previous installment, Wild Strawberry follows Kingo and Makki as they enter the headquarters of the Seventh Flower Funeral Force. It is here that they encounter Hikishima, the 24-year-old director of the squad. Despite his height and youthful look, Hikishima is self-conscious of his appearance and assumes Kingo is judging him, leading him to stomp on his leg.
Hikishima granted Kingo permission to join the club, but with the condition that he must have complete control over his Jinka. Makoto later informed Kingo that his trials would commence the following morning, as Jinkas are less active during nighttime. Makoto then cautioned Kingo that if he failed the trials, he would personally eliminate him. Ayari and Hikishima also emphasized to Kingo that he must meet the conditions without any failures. Eager to become a team member, Kingo gladly accepted the challenge.
