Unveiling the Monetary Compensation for Squid Game Contestants

Do Squid Game contestants receive payment? Find out if all participants were rewarded in the hit show, Squid Game: The Challenge, where one emerged as a multi-millionaire

The finale of Squid Game: The Challenge has been released, and one player has become a multi-millionaire. However, the fate of the rest of the contestants remains unknown.

In the original Squid Game, contestants left their debt-ridden lives behind for a chance to escape their financial troubles. While only one person could win, those who lost faced a grim fate - being murdered by the contest's guards or dying as a result of the games.

The reality show had some distinct differences. Of course, Netflix did not put any of the participants in mortal danger, making changes to certain games to prevent serious injury; for example, Tug of War became Warship, and stunt doubles were utilized to create the appearance of falling in Glass Bridge.

The filming spanned 16 days, a significant commitment for those with jobs, children, and other obligations. The question remains: were all the contestants of Squid Game: The Challenge compensated for their participation?

Did Squid Game: The Challenge contestants get paid?

None of the contestants in Squid Game: The Challenge were paid, except for the winner.

456 hopefuls entered the competition, all hoping to free themselves from debt and financial worry. However, only the winner received any money, leaving everyone else with nothing.

Responding to a question on TikTok, Radhika Srinivasan (382) revealed that no one was paid for participating in the series. "Zero. No GBP, no USD. No rupees, no won, no pesos, no euros. Literally zero," she explained.

"We went all in, but it ended up feeling like it was all for nothing. The stakes were high at $4.56 million, but the production covered all of our transportation expenses. That included international flights into London and transport within the city. They even organized a taxi, train, and anything else we needed to get to and from the location.

As a joke, Srinivasan said, "We went in with the clothes they gave us and a bag of toiletries, and we left with shared trauma. We have so many crazy and intense memories. It was a wild experience, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. And would I do it again for free? Absolutely.”

Editor's P/S

As a Gen Z fan of the original Squid Game, I was excited to hear about the new reality show, Squid Game: The Challenge. I was disappointed to learn that none of the contestants were paid, except for the winner. I understand that the show is a competition, but it seems unfair that the contestants who put their lives on the line were not compensated for their time and effort.

I think it's important to remember that these contestants are real people with real lives and financial obligations. They took a risk by participating in the show, and they deserve to be compensated for their time and effort, regardless of whether or not they won. I hope that in future seasons, Netflix will reconsider their policy and pay all of the contestants, not just the winner.
