Fans are divided on many aspects of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 beta, but nobody can really form an opinion on the streaks yet since so little has been shown thus far.
During the beta, players were only given limited options to test out. This has raised concerns about the lack of information regarding the complete lineup of streaks in the full game.
Fans are currently unaware of what to anticipate from the top-tier streaks since only the Support Juggernaut was made available. Consequently, fans are left pondering whether the high-level streaks will be excessively strong, too weak, or properly balanced.
Furthermore, Sledgehammer Games missed an opportunity to identify and resolve any glitches or issues with the streaks that were omitted from the beta testing phase.
The beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has concluded, and opinions vary on whether it was a step in the right direction or a regression for the series. Dedicated fans were quick to praise the return of classic maps, although some desired new ones and criticized the reliance on nostalgia. The reintroduction of fast movement, the classic mini map, and the high Time to Kill (TTK) received positive feedback from many players. However, fans of the more tactical gameplay found in MW 2019 and MW2 expressed disappointment. Interestingly, fans have not formed strong opinions on streaks due to a lack of sufficient information in the beta. The equipment, graphics, and sound design in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 have sparked discussions among fans, but the topic of killstreaks has left everyone undecided. While the game offers a Nuke variant for those with massive killing sprees and the option to choose between killstreaks and scorestreaks, the beta only allowed players to test a few regular streaks. This lack of exposure leaves players uncertain about what to expect in the full game.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s Uncertain Streak Situation
The Call of Duty franchise is known for its iconic killstreak options such as Attack Dogs, AC-130, Pave Low, Swarm, and R.A.P.S. These killstreaks can enhance the gaming experience, although they do not solely determine a game's success. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's beta seemed to leave out a majority of its killstreak lineup, leaving fans uncertain about which streaks from its predecessor, Modern Warfare 2, will be included in the sequel. While the Carry Forward system suggests that all MW2 streaks could make the jump, it remains unclear. A balance between old and new streaks could create the largest streak lineup in the series, but the lack of MW2 streaks in the MW3 beta raises doubts. As a result, fans are uncertain whether to be excited or not about the potential inclusion of new MW3 streaks.
The beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 only included one impactful killstreak, which was the Support Juggernaut. While it was enjoyable, it didn't give players a true understanding of how the game would feel when larger streaks were involved. It would have been nice to have more major streaks like Harriers, AC-130s, and Chopper Gunners to try out. The beta left players uncertain about what the overall streak situation would be since only the Juggernaut was available. Some players didn't even try it because they didn't like streaks that deviated from their usual gameplay style.
It would have been beneficial for both Sledgehammer Games and fans if they had tested out more of the MW3 streaks in the beta, considering the past issue with the Chopper Gunner in Modern Warfare 2. Early on, there was a bug that prevented players from moving with the streak, rendering it useless. Testing out more of the streaks would have provided reassurance and helped identify any potential bugs. Normally, players have a good understanding of what to expect from killstreaks in a new Call of Duty game, but this time they have no knowledge of the variety or power level of the streaks. Hopefully, the rest of the lineup will pleasantly surprise players, with a diverse collection of powerful streaks that are free from major bugs.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 launches on November 10 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
