How to start the Mantis quest

The Mantis quest can be acquired from a data slate called "Secret Outpost!" commonly found on Spacer enemies. Our team obtained it by looting a Spacer enemy in the Nova Galactic Starstation during the main quest called The Old Neighborhood. Other team members discovered this mission through different means, but it seems that Spacer enemies consistently drop the data slate.

The dataslate will lead you to the exact location of the covert outpost.

Even though we were only level 8 at the start of the mission, we encountered enemies who were already level 25 or higher. It was a challenging experience, as these adversaries packed a significant punch. However, we persevered and successfully overcame these challenges. Allow me to provide you with an overview of what to expect during your Starfield Mantis quest:

In the initial section of the facility, numerous Spacer mercenaries can be found. The tight spaces allow for the effective use of grenades, enabling you to eliminate multiple adversaries.

Within this vicinity, certain adversaries possess valuable and exceptional possessions, including energy-based weaponry such as the Arc Welder and Orion.

Before the spacious chamber where enemies wielding Arc Welders await, you may come across the esteemed Bounty Hunter Spacesuit. This rare piece of equipment boasts a legendary status, with outstanding physical, energy, and EM defense capabilities, totaling over 120 points.

As you delve deeper into the depths of the base, you shall confront a variety of mechanized adversaries, including robo sentries, robo dogs, and formidable turrets. These formidable opponents also possess an elevated level of strength and prowess.

In due course, you will inevitably encounter the Starfield Mantis puzzle, situated within a confined chamber. Laid out on the floor are multiple rows adorned with letters, while at the far end, a collection of turrets awaits. A single step on the wrong panel triggers the activation of these turrets, resulting in a swift and gruesome demise.

Among the Spacer adversaries, there exists one bearing the Sic Semper Tyrannis dataslate. Now, the question arises, how does one navigate this perilous section? Well, upon inspecting one of the Spacer opponents within the base, you may chance upon a dataslate named Leon Voclain - Sic Semper Tyrannis.

To successfully navigate the room, it is crucial to step on the designated plates in the correct sequence, spelling out the word "TYRANNIS." This will enable you to safely reach the other side. Once there, press the button to unlock the gate, simultaneously disabling the turrets.

Gingerly proceed across the room, ensuring that you spell out the word "TYRANNIS" with your foot placement.

The Mantis spacesuit set

Following this section, you will find yourself in a narrow corridor. Beyond it lie two additional rooms, housing turrets, robo dogs, and robo sentries. Considering our low level, we chose to swiftly traverse the area while utilizing medpacks to mitigate potential damage. Subsequently, we arrived at the hangar bay where the legendary Mantis spacecraft was securely docked.

Prior to boarding the ship, it is advisable to investigate the adjacent room where the former pilot resided. Within, you will have the opportunity to acquire the complete set of Mantis armor, comprising of the Assisted Carry Mantis Pack, the Headhunter's Mantis Space Helmet, and the Mirrored Mantis Spacesuit. These exceptional items possess extraordinary stats and are equipped with various modifications.

We cannot guarantee that the loot and modifications/attributes are identical for all individuals. However, in our particular situation, the jetpack was equipped with the Chameleon mod, enabling our character to become invisible while sneaking and remaining stationary.
