A dedicated fan of the Zelda series has crafted an impressive Nintendo GameCube console that draws inspiration from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The Nintendo Switch, which houses both Tears of the Kingdom and its predecessor, Breath of the Wild, remains cherished among Zelda enthusiasts.
The renowned franchise began its journey with the original The Legend of Zelda in 1986 on the NES. Now, in 2023, Tears of the Kingdom continues this storied legacy that spans nearly 37 years. As Link embarks on a new quest to rescue Zelda and protect Hyrule from impending doom, players can explore the vast world of Hyrule within Tears of the Kingdom. They may also uncover some of Link's iconic costumes from previous Zelda games, such as those from Twilight Princess and Wind Waker. Despite the absence of GameCube games on the Nintendo Switch Online service, Nintendo acknowledges the community's admiration for the Zelda titles on the GameCube by featuring Link's classic outfits in Tears of the Kingdom.
Zelda fan TheJinxx recently created a Nintendo GameCube console and controller inspired by Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. TheJinxx began the project by sanding down the console and controller shells with a super fine grit paper. After cleaning them, a can of Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch 2x spray paint was used for a smooth base coat. Once dry, golden paint markers were utilized to add intricate Zonai markings, and the controller buttons, console buttons, and controller port plate were also coated in gold paint.
The white paint with golden accents is a direct nod to the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Switch OLED console, which was released on April 28. TheJinxx kept the specially themed dock of the Switch OLED console nearby for reference, allowing them to replicate the unique design on both the console and controller. Despite TheJinxx considering the project "far from perfect" upon completion, many Zelda fans are highly satisfied with the final design of the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom GameCube.
TheJinxx has skillfully crafted a remarkable GameCube design, faithfully capturing the captivating allure of the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Switch OLED console. Adding their own distinctive touches, the GameCube design features a golden plate for the front-facing controller ports and a Triforce jewel badge. While the painting process may take time, this exceptional console design can be replicated by employing the right materials and mastering the art of sanding and painting surfaces.
Although Zelda games originally released on the GameCube are not currently accessible on the Switch, players can still immerse themselves in the enchanting world of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, delving into hours of fascinating content and uncovering hidden secrets. Additionally, Nintendo Switch Online offers a collection of classic Zelda games, including Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask from the Nintendo 64 era.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now on Nintendo Switch.
