The friends and family of Kyle Jacobs, Kellie Pickler's deceased husband, came together to commemorate his life seven months after his passing. On Monday, September 25, Franklin First United Methodist Church released a video of the solemn event on YouTube, where numerous individuals assembled to honor and remember him.
Jacobs' family expressed that although this celebration took place later than expected, it was crucial for them, as his parents, to process the shock of his passing and adapt to the absence of their precious son. To pay tribute to how Kyle lived his life, the meticulous and thoughtful creation of Kyle's Celebration of Life was deemed necessary.
The family's statement further emphasized that Kyle truly embraced the essence of life. He held profound love for his family and friends, and his sincerity and capacity to bring joy transcended to numerous individuals, both known and unknown to him. Heartfelt remembrances continue to pour in regularly. Kyle was recognized for his authentic and modest nature, along with his ability to profoundly impact others' lives in a single moment.
The gathering featured both musical performances and personal anecdotes from the loved ones of Jacobs. The ceremony commenced with a speech by Mike Curb, the founder of Curb Records, and concluded with Jacobs' song "You Are with Me" playing in the background. Notably, Pickler, aged 37, did not appear to be present at the celebration, as evidenced by the footage.
The family expressed their gratitude to everyone who contributed to the event, starting with the support, affection, prayers, and professionalism offered by their church community. Additionally, they extended their thanks to all those involved in organizing the gathering. The stories shared, the songs sung, and the love expressed all served as a testament to Kyle's ability to bring people together in friendship, work, and enjoyment.
Jacobs passed away in February at the age of 49 from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was discovered at his residence in Tennessee, which he shared with his wife, Kellie Pickler.
According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police, Pickler informed them that she had woken up and noticed her husband's absence. Concerned, she started searching for him with the help of her personal assistant. However, they were unable to gain access to the upstairs bedroom/office, leading the assistant to contact 911 on their behalf.
The Davidson County Medical Examiner confirmed in May that Jacobs died by suicide. An autopsy report indicated that he had a medical history including pseudoseizures, gastrointestinal bleeding, elevated liver enzymes, and chronic alcohol use. However, a toxicology report determined that there were no drugs present in Jacobs' system at the time of his death.
In August, Pickler finally spoke out about her loss and shared her plans for a memorial service. She expressed that she intends to hold a small and intimate memorial for her late husband, following what she believes he would have wanted. In a statement, the actress stated, "One of the most valuable lessons my husband taught me was that in moments of crisis, if you're unsure of what to do, it's okay to simply do nothing and be still. I have chosen to follow his advice."
