PlayStation Plus members can now access the free games for September 2023, including Saints Row, Black Desert: Traveler Edition, and Generation Zero.
This month's lineup has faced criticism due to the mixed reviews received by all three games. Sony's announcement of a price increase for all three tiers of PS Plus has sparked backlash from users, with some going as far as canceling their memberships.
The September 2023 free monthly games for PlayStation Plus subscribers are now accessible. Subscribers can enjoy approximately three games every month at no additional cost, and these titles can be played until the subscription expires.
Sony typically offers a diverse selection of genres, including AAA games and indie titles. In the previous month, members were able to download Dreams, Death's Door, and PGA Tour 2K23 with their PS Plus subscriptions, while Dreams was also available in the Extra tier. The free monthly games for PS Plus are usually available during the first week, and the September 2023 lineup is now accessible to gamers.

Not all PS Plus games are popular among players, but Sony generally offers well-received titles in this category. However, the lineup for September's PS Plus doesn't have many redeeming qualities, as the remaining two games have also received poor reviews. The PS4 version of Black Desert has a score of 61 on Metacritic, while Generation Zero has a score of just 45. As a result, the complete lineup has faced criticism from PS Plus subscribers. Despite this, players can now try out these games and form their own opinion.
The selection of games, which was relatively poor, was not the most controversial PS Plus announcement of the day. Sony has confirmed that they will be increasing prices for all three tiers. From September 6, 12 months of PS Plus Essential will cost $79.99 USD, while the Extra and Premium categories will be priced at $134.99 USD and $159.99 USD respectively. Sony did not provide a specific reason for this price increase, but mentioned that it will allow them to continue offering high-quality games and additional benefits to PS Plus members.
The announcement sparked widespread backlash online due to the steep price hike. Consequently, several gamers have chosen to cancel their PlayStation Plus subscriptions, with many expressing their intention to exclusively focus on single-player games rather than paying for online multiplayer.
