How Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Could Draw Inspiration From Galarian Slowking

Pokemon Sword and Shield's Isle of Armor did not receive as positive feedback as its successor. However, it did address one of the base game's peculiar mysteries: the introduction of Galarian Slowpoke. Players first encounter this creature at the Wedgehurst station, where they must board a train to the Isle of Armor. Galarian Slowpoke is readily available throughout the island, and players can evolve it into Galarian Slowbro by obtaining Galarica Twigs, transforming them into a Galarica Cuff, and giving it to Slowpoke.

In a similar fashion, the Crown Tundra DLC provides players with the option to use Galarica Twigs to create a Galarica Wreath. This item enables the evolution of Galarian Slowpoke into Galarian Slowking instead. In the upcoming Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Teal Mask, Dipplin, a new cross-gen evolution of the Gen 8 creature Applin, will be introduced. Consequently, fans are speculating whether Dipplin will be a one-time surprise or if Game Freak will take inspiration from the Crown Tundra expansion and introduce a surprise element. This surprise could potentially include a Dipplin evolution, a new Tera form for Dipplin, or altogether different Applin evolution.

However, this raises questions about why Appletun and Flapple from Generation 8 never evolved.
