Reptile is a member of the reptiloid race called Zaterrans, which is native to Outworld. While all Zaterrans possess exceptional camouflage skills, Reptile stands out by having the rare ability to transform into a human form. This unique ability led to Reptile, also known as Syzoth, being persecuted by other Zaterrans, prompting him to leave his homeland in search of solace elsewhere.

Reptile in Mortal Kombat 1 is depicted as an incredibly quick and agile fighter, showcasing a range of aggressive moves.
