This exciting continuation, titled Four Knights of the Apocalypse, is set to receive its own anime adaptation as part of the Fall 2023 anime season. To prepare for the upcoming first season, here is everything you need to know about Four Knights of the Apocalypse.
The Story of Four Knights of the Apocalypse
Following the events that culminated the Seven Deadly Sins, the world basked in a prolonged era of tranquility. However, this newfound peace is now under threat from an unexpected nemesis who was once a savior. Arthur, the sovereign ruler of the Kingdom of Camelot, has transformed into a malevolent overlord, posing a grave danger to the harmonious lives of all inhabitants across the globe. Driven by a fervent desire to eradicate tragedy and sorrow from the world, Arthur's unwavering determination to achieve his vision sees him resorting to the mass slaughter of countless innocent individuals.
Unbeknownst to Arthur, a prophecy foretells that his noble aspirations will be undermined by a group of individuals known as the four Knights of the Apocalypse. Fearing the imminent demise of his lofty dream, Arthur dispatches his most reliable, formidable, and devoted servant, the Knight of Chaos, to relentlessly pursue and eliminate both the four knights and anyone associated with them.
Percival, a mischievous young boy, is among those frightening knights. He enjoys a peaceful existence until one of Arthur's Chaotic Knights ruthlessly slays his grandfather. This tragic event reveals Percival's true destiny as one of the four Knights destined to trigger the apocalypse.
To safeguard the world from Arthur's destructive plans, Percival embarks on a perilous quest to locate the remaining knights of the apocalypse. This entails embarking on a globe-trotting adventure, venturing into peculiar realms, and encountering diverse beings from various races and species.
From Seven Deadly Sins to Four Knights of The Apocalypse
Four Knights of the Apocalypse is set in the same world as Seven Deadly Sins, but it takes place fifteen years after the original series. Some characters from Seven Deadly Sins, like Meliodas and others from the Kingdom of Liones, will make appearances but won't play a major role in the story.
While there is no official announcement regarding the exact length of the Four Knights of the Apocalypse anime adaptation, it has been mentioned that the new series will run for two cours without any breaks in between. This suggests that we can expect this sequel to have a similar number of episodes as the first season of Seven Deadly Sins, which consisted of 24 episodes.
New Characters With Some Familiar Faces
The Four Knights of The Apocalypse manga, with its current 103 chapters, provides ample material to produce an equivalent number of episodes as the anime adaptation of The Seven Deadly Sins, which covered the first 100 chapters in 24 episodes.
In contrast to typical anime sequels, Four Knights of The Apocalypse will introduce numerous fresh characters. The original series' familiar characters, on the other hand, will make brief appearances at various points along Percival's adventure.
The four knights of the apocalypse and their companions are among the most notable new characters. Percival holds the title of the Knight of Death, Lancelot is known as the Knight of War, Tristan carries the designation of the Knight of Pestilence, and Gawain bears the title of the Knight of Famine. Notably, Lancelot is the offspring of Ban and Elaine, while Tristan is the son of Meliodas and Elizabeth.
Apart from Lancelot and Gawain, each knight is accompanied by their own set of companions during their travels. Percival is joined by the amorous Danny, the reserved Nasiens, and the resolute Anghalhad. Tristan's companions consist of the excessively cautious Isolde, the crafty and impolite Chion, and the optimistic and forthright Jade. Each character possesses distinctive powers, making them truly extraordinary.
