Arnold Schwarzenegger has provided a glimpse into his competitive relationship with Sylvester Stallone, revealing that they even disputed over the number of on-screen kills in their films. When considering the iconic muscular action stars of the 1980s, it is impossible not to think of either Arnold Schwarzenegger or Sylvester Stallone.

Both men played crucial roles in shaping the genre, starring in the decade's most prominent action franchises. Schwarzenegger took on The Terminator while Stallone headlined Rambo. This led to a constant rivalry between the two, with Schwarzenegger recently unveiling the extent of their intense competition.

Schwarzenegger and Stallone fought to be the beefiest ’80s man

While appearing on a new episode of The Graham Norton Show, Schwarzengger divulged how deep his rivalry with Stallone went as they acted alongside one another in the ’80s.

According to Schwarzenegger, their rivalry in the movie industry went to extreme lengths, where they both aimed to have the best physique, kill more characters in their films, and possess the largest weapons. This rivalry eventually pushed them to compete for the title of being the most lethal on-screen and who could defeat more opponents simultaneously.

However, the situation spiraled out of control, leading them to try to sabotage each other. Surprisingly, their relationship took a positive turn when they both became partners in the venture of Planet Hollywood. From then on, they began traveling together worldwide to promote it, resulting in a strong friendship. Schwarzenegger now speaks highly of Stallone, describing him as an exceptional individual, and they have become inseparable.

Forbes was informed by Stallone himself about the strong animosity between the two, with Stallone adding that he believes they were trailblazers for a specific genre during that time, which has not been replicated since.

Both men have developed a strong friendship due to their shared investments in a chain restaurant and their numerous appearances in movies together.

Stallone and Schwarzenegger acted opposite one another in the first two Expendables movies and the 2013 action movie Escape Plan.
