Choso, a pivotal character in the Jujutsu Kaisen series, belongs to the Death Painting Wombs, a group consisting of himself and his two brothers, Kechizu and Eso. Among the brothers, Choso possesses a striking resemblance to a human male. Being a hybrid of both human and cursed spirit, Choso has existed for a hundred and fifty years and possesses a physical body of flesh and blood, making him visible to both sorcerers and non-sorcerers. Initially aligning himself with Mahito and Kenjaku during the Shibuya Incident arc, Choso engages in a fierce battle against Yuji Itadori. But who exactly is Choso and where did he originate from?

Personality

Choso always wears a bored expression and gives off an air of calmness, avoiding attention. Despite being a half-cursed spirit, he doesn't actively seek to harm humans like other cursed spirits do. He remains level-headed unless it involves his family, where he clearly displays his rage. His bond with his brothers is evident, which explains why he immediately recognized Yuji during the Shibuya incident. He quickly engaged in battle with Yuji, seeking vengeance for his fallen siblings killed by Yuji and Nobara.

The loss of his brothers deeply saddened Choso, leading him to align himself with Mahito and Kenjaku. Even during the intense fight between Gojo and Jogo, Choso chose to stay on the sidelines, ignoring Jogo's insistence to join and defeat Gojo. His sole focus was on finding and eliminating Yuji.

The Prodigal Brother?

During the intense battle between Choso and Yuji, a flurry of blows exchanged between them. Despite being at a disadvantage, Choso managed to gain the upper hand. As he stood triumphantly over Yuji, ready to deliver the final blow, he suddenly had a vision. In this vision, he saw Yuji, himself, and his brothers sharing a joyful meal together. Confused by this unexpected sight, Choso began questioning the reason behind it. A glimpse of Sukuna mocking Yuji for his loss to someone seemingly insignificant preceded this vision. The next scene depicted Choso retreating in fear. It remains unclear whether he backed away due to sensing Sukuna's power or if Sukuna manipulated his memory to save Yuji.

Eventually, Choso came to the realization that Yuji could potentially be his step-brother. This revelation traced back centuries ago when Kenjaku possessed Noritoshi Kamo's body and used Choso's mother as a vessel to give birth to him and his siblings. Kenjaku later possessed Kaori Itadori, who eventually gave birth to Yuji. While they may not be biological brothers, it can be inferred that they are somehow related, with Choso being the older brother. After witnessing the fabricated memory, Choso made the choice to switch sides and protect Yuji, his only surviving sibling.

What distinguishes Choso from others is his remarkable skill in martial arts. He exemplifies this by effortlessly blocking and enduring a barrage of punches from Yuji. Choso's tactical intelligence is evident when he cleverly counters Yuji's attempt to dissolve his blood manipulation technique with water. Despite the negative effect that hardening his blood has on his own body, Choso ingeniously utilizes it to his advantage and emerges victorious.

Similar to his brothers, Kechizu and Eso, Choso's blood possesses a toxic nature that swiftly drains an opponent's stamina upon contact. Furthermore, if Choso maintains enough cursed energy within him, he cannot be killed by excessive blood loss. Among his impressive repertoire of techniques is Convergence, which involves compressing his blood using cursed energy to enhance the power of his attacks, such as creating explosive blood orbs called supernovas and firing blood bullets. Another formidable technique is Piercing Blood, where Choso unleashes a potent beam from his hands. For close-quarters combat, he employs Blood Edge, shaping sharp objects from his own blood to pierce through his foes.
