Beneath a misty New England lighthouse, players of Meet Your Maker will uncover the hidden secrets of their post-apocalyptic world in the next chapter. The new expansion, Dreadshore, takes builders and raiders on a haunting journey away from the Red Sands to a mysterious new realm.
Meet Your Maker takes place long after the devastation of the apocalypse, where humanity's existence dwindles. Amongst the ruins, players construct fortresses to safeguard valuable genetic resources, while also raiding the bases of others to stockpile their own supplies. Additionally, players encounter challenging dungeons created by the imaginative and cunning minds of fellow gamers. As the game's first content expansion, Meet Your Maker expands upon the lore of its dystopian future. Game Rant recently had the opportunity to interview creative director Ash Pannell, discussing all things Dreadshore.

Pannell explains that Meet Your Maker takes inspiration from New England to create a spooky and unnerving atmosphere. The Dreadshore area of New England, known for its atmospheric horror in works by H.P. Lovecraft and Stephen King, is a key component in Meet Your Maker's unique and coveted DNA.
"The inspirations for the new Dreadshore environment come from various sources. We drew from classic New England architecture and coastal landscapes for inspiration. Additionally, the eerie tales of maritime legends played a significant role in shaping the distinct and haunting atmosphere of Dreadshore. Our goal was to transport players to a completely different vibe and feeling. The relentless rain and dark, brooding aesthetic of Dreadshore are a stark contrast to the Red Sands. The changes in lighting and atmosphere provide Raiders with a new mood and give Builders an entirely new narrative tool for their levels."
Dreadshore, the new environment, presents a distinct atmosphere compared to the well-known Red Sands players have been acquainted with since Meet Your Maker's release in April. Inspired by the captivating essence of classic American horror, Dreadshore captures the essence of coastal New England through its weather, geography, and folklore. This infusion of elements adds an element of uncertainty to the fast-paced game of infiltrating the Outposts of other players. Furthermore, the narrative unfolding in Dreadshore intensifies the overall suspense and horror vibe, as Pannell elucidated.
One way this vibe is expressed is through the story of Nautilus, a prisoner at the Dreadshore lighthouse. Known as Prisoner 617, Nautilus took on the identity of an infamous maritime legend and managed to escape the sinister experiments conducted beneath the lighthouse. Equipped in a diving suit, Nautilus eventually found his way into the hands of players.
"The Dreadshore is home to a forsaken Sanctuary housed beneath a towering lighthouse. Within its depths, Advisors were constantly cloned for twisted experiments. One individual managed to break free, taking down the uncontrollable Custodian and Chimera during their escape. Originally just another clone destined for the operating table, this prisoner was assigned menial Sanctuary tasks. However, their discovery of the true potential of the computer stations led them to secretly create a suit that enhanced their physical abilities and a weapon capable of eliminating anyone in their path. They made a daring escape, navigating a treacherous maze of lasers and explosions. But they were not ready to leave just yet, not without exacting vengeance on their captors."
The raider group, Meet Your Maker, aims to replicate the risky escapes depicted in the image above. Nautilus proves to be a valuable addition to their team in this regard. Excelling in survivability, Nautilus specializes in utilizing defensive weapons and his perks significantly enhance the effectiveness of the Arc Barrier. Furthermore, the inclusion of the New England decopacks and Dreadshore enables players to embrace the atmospheric suspense while taking a moment to breathe in the refreshing scent of the salty air.
Content: Indulging in the atmospheric and immersive elements of Dreadshore, players will be captivated by the blend of coastal themes, rainy harbors, and the rich lore of the region.
