Despite the difficulty she faced, Yennefer managed to earn back their trust, leading to a rekindling of her romance with Geralt. In a similar fashion to the events depicted in The Witcher season 3 part 1, Geralt and Yennefer find themselves reconciling in the books when Ciri chooses to flee from the perceived confines of Aretuza. Together, the trio embarks on a journey to Thanedd Island. Accompanied by Yennefer, Geralt attends the evening reception at Aretuza, where he encounters a myriad of mages, including Vilgefortz. However, once again, their reunion is short-lived as the dramatic events of the Thanedd Coup tear them apart, taking Ciri along with them.
After Geralt successfully saves Yennefer and Ciri from Dijkstra's clutches, they find themselves confronted by the Scoia’tael. While Ciri makes a quick getaway, Geralt and Yennefer band together to combat the enemy. Unfortunately, Geralt ends up in a brutal confrontation with Vilgefortz and sustains severe injuries. In order to recover, he is transported to the Brokilon forest while Yennefer endures a harrowing transformation into a jade statuette courtesy of Francesca Findabair. With the help of Fringilla, Yennefer manages to escape and sets off to pursue Vilgefortz, while Geralt persists in his relentless quest to find Ciri. Later on, Yennefer seeks refuge in Skellige and is believed to have perished, but in "The Lady of the Lake," it is revealed that she falls victim to Vilgefortz's torturous interrogation, leaving Geralt with the belief that she betrayed them.
In a fortunate turn of events, Geralt unexpectedly overhears the whereabouts of Vilgefortz and his knowledge that Yennefer remains his captive. With most of his companions at his side (excluding Jaskier), Geralt embarks on a daring mission to rescue her. However, before Geralt can execute the plan, Ciri arrives on the scene with the same purpose in mind, but she ends up falling into Vilgefortz's clutches. Undeterred, Geralt and his comrades launch a fierce assault on the castle and triumphantly liberate Yennefer. Despite the loss of his companions during the fight, Geralt ultimately succeeds in vanquishing Vilgefortz. Following their perilous escape from the clutches of the White Flame, Geralt heads to Rivia to reunite with friends, only to find himself caught in the midst of a riot and pogrom that culminates in his impalement by a pitchfork. Thankfully, Yennefer employs her magical powers to heal Geralt, albeit at the cost of losing consciousness. When Ihuarraquax appears, he channels his formidable abilities through Ciri to restore Geralt's health.
What lies ahead is up to the reader's interpretation. Ciri places Geralt and Yennefer's bodies on a boat, and the three of them vanish into the mist. Afterwards, Ciri reveals that Geralt and Yennefer wake up in an unfamiliar place, finding solace in each other's company. However, Ciri expresses her desire for the story not to conclude like that. With tears in her eyes, she adds that Geralt and Yennefer get married and live happily ever after. It could be speculated that Geralt and Yennefer have passed away, and the remainder of Ciri's tale may symbolize their transition into the afterlife. Alternatively, they may have truly survived and achieved a joyful ending.

The relationship between Geralt and Yennefer is better depicted in The Witcher video games, highlighting their affection and compatibility. Unlike the series and books, the games showcase numerous instances where Geralt and Yennefer collaborate, allowing players to truly grasp the nature of their bond. Within the game, there is a quest to break the binding magic imposed by a djinn through Geralt's final wish. Yennefer seeks to determine if their love can exist without this enchantment. Surprisingly, their relationship perseveres even if the result means their romantic interest would fade, as they choose to remain together.
