The final installment of the Haikyuu!! anime series will be a two-part film project, with the first film titled "Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump".
The films were announced during the "Haikyuu!! x V.League All-star Special Match" event, which commemorates the manga's 10th anniversary. In July 2020, the original Haikyuu!! manga ended after 45 volumes, and these upcoming films will serve as the animated series' conclusion.
The last part of the Haikyuu!! anime series, initially revealed in August 2022, will be presented as a two-part film project. Haikyuu!! the Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump is the initial sequel film showcasing the intense climactic face-off between long-standing adversaries Karasuno and Nekoma.
A year after the original announcement, a logo image for the first film was unveiled on the official X (Twitter) account of the series.
The two upcoming Haikyuu!! movies were announced at last year's "Haikyuu!! x V.League All-star Special Match 'The Volleyball'", a two-day event that resulted from a collaboration between the original manga and Division 1 Men as part of the manga's 10-year anniversary celebrations. Additionally, the Haikyuu!! stage play is scheduled for August 2023 in Tokyo.
Haruichi Furudate created the original Haikyuu!! manga, which was initially launched in 2011 before being serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2012. VIZ Media has obtained the rights to distribute the manga in English, both digitally and in print, and was publishing it simultaneously with the Japanese release. The manga concluded in July 2020 after running for 45 volumes.
The Haikyuu!! television anime series, produced by Production I.G., consisted of four seasons. The first season aired 25 episodes from April to September 2014, followed by the second season with another 25 episodes from October 2015 to March 2016. The third season, titled Haikyuu!! Karasuno High School vs Shiratorizawa Academy, ran for 10 episodes from October to December 2016.
The fourth season, titled Haikyuu!! To The Top!, had a total of 25 episodes and aired in two parts. The first 13 episodes were broadcasted from January to April 2020, followed by the last 12 episodes from October to December 2020. During the series' run, four OVAs were released, along with several compilation films after the conclusion of the TV series.
The upcoming pair of films will serve as the grand finale for the Haikyuu!! animated series. However, no official release date, cast, or staff information has been confirmed yet.
