As Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens dominate their respective sports, they’re also each other’s biggest cheerleaders.
When the couple first met in 2020, Owens was beginning his NFL career, while Biles had already achieved numerous gold medals at the Olympics. Owens confessed that he wasn't aware of Biles' impressive accomplishments at their first meeting, but he has since become one of her biggest supporters after getting to know her better.
After three years of dating, the couple got married in April 2023. However, Owens caused controversy eight months later when he claimed he was the "catch" in the relationship.
He stated during a December 2023 episode of "The Pivot" podcast, "I always say that the men are the catch. She did manage to pull me in, even though I was resisting. At the time, I was afraid of commitment. I thought, 'This is only my third year in the NFL, it's too soon,' but you know, it happens when you least expect it." Owens' comments gained attention on the internet, but Biles remained unfazed and dismissed the criticism, stating "Are y'all finished yet?" through X (formerly Twitter) after the podcast.

A Shared Interest
Biles opened up about her romance with Owens during her 2021 documentary, Simone vs Herself. The Olympian shared that she and Owens bonded over their passion for sports.
“We vibe on the same level. We have the same kind of humor. We’re both athletic,” she explained. “We’re both elite athletes, so we definitely get each other. It was like it was meant to be.”
Watching the GOAT in Action
After a year of dating, Owens was finally able to witness Biles in her element as he attended her first competition. In September 2021, he shared his awe on Instagram, writing, "What an incredible experience. Seeing you compete in person for the first time was truly amazing. It's incredible to witness you doing what you love and excelling at it. I'm immensely proud of you, my little champ!"

Rooting for Her Man
When Owens made his debut NFL start for the Houston Texans, Biles penned a heartfelt Instagram post celebrating his achievement.
"#36 really showed up today in his first start!" she captioned a lovely photo of the pair holding hands in December 2021. "Don't underestimate him. I'm incredibly proud of you, babe!!! I adore watching you pursue your dreams!"
Getting the Gold
During the Core Hydration U.S. Classic in August 2023, as Biles was competing, Owens was busy with an event for his new team, the Green Bay Packers. Despite his commitments, Owens was eager to follow the news and eagerly awaited the results of his wife's performance. When he found out that she had emerged victorious, he couldn't contain his pride and admiration for her.
“I rushed in here straight from Family Night to grab my phone and check out the scores,” Owens shared with reporters at an NFL press conference following Biles' gold medal win. “I’m in here cheering and the guys are like, ‘What’s happening?’ I’m like, ‘Man, my lady, she just won. She nailed it.’ I was so thrilled.”

Who’s the Better Athlete?
The topic of who the superior athlete has come up for the twosome throughout their relationship.
"I believe we excel in our respective sports," stated Biles during her interview on Peacock's Back That Year Up in December 2023. "We've attempted to compare our skills in terms of difficulty and ability. Ultimately, gymnastics is more challenging - whether he acknowledges it or not."

While Biles confessed that she and Owens have argued over the matter in the past, they’ve moved forward. Biles, however, has hinted that she has the upper hand.
“He has done my workout in the gym and he can barely do it, and then I went to their NFL workout and I crushed it,” she teased.
