Marvel Studios has managed to keep the plot details of The Marvels a secret, but Funko has given fans a glimpse of what to expect. Their new toy line for The Marvels reveals a key element that will play a role in the upcoming film.
After a long wait of four years since Carol Danvers, played by Brie Larson, first appeared in Captain Marvel, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is finally bringing us a sequel. Unlike previous films where the character made appearances, such as the hugely successful Avengers: Endgame, The Marvels will be a unique experience. It will be the first superhero film to have three women take the lead. Alongside Carol Danvers, the film will introduce the newly named mutant Kamala Khan, portrayed by Iman Vellani, and Monica Rambeau, played by Teyonah Parris, who have previously been featured in various projects within the Marvel universe. The trio of heroes will unite their powers as they face a common threat.
The reason for this remains a mystery, but excluding the flerken named Goose. In the first Captain Marvel film, Goose, a cat-like alien, made an appearance and now has an intriguing development in its latest adventure. @tampikeando shared Funko Pop figures on Instagram for the new film, featuring Captain Marvel in her classic costume, as well as a notable toy of Goose accompanied by a group of kittens.
With Goose being revealed as an extraterrestrial creature with tentacles, it's only natural to question whether these kittens are of Earth or if they are flerken kittens that have transformed our beloved animal into a parent. The answer lies on the toy box itself. Alongside the normal-looking kittens, there is a depiction of one kitten mid-transformation with tentacles growing from its face. Based on this, it appears that Goose is the leader of the household in this scenario.
Based on The Marvels trailer, fans can anticipate numerous surprises in store, including Goose's expanding family. As is customary for Marvel productions, speculation is rampant while the company remains tight-lipped. Nevertheless, certain guesses can be made. Vellani will reprise her role as the remarkable Ms. Marvel, a decision that is bound to introduce some complications. Kamala, an impulsive and energetic teenager, is sure to stir up unexpected shenanigans upon finally meeting her idol, Carol. Moreover, the release of a toy has hinted at the introduction of a new character in The Marvels, with indications suggesting that Park Seo-joon will portray Carol's husband and a prince from the comics. This further emphasizes that if anything can defy Marvel's usual indifference, it is Carol Danvers and her collection of flerken kittens.
The Marvels is scheduled for release on November 10, 2023
