Netflix's documentary anthology series, Untold, made its highly-anticipated return on Tuesday, August 1st. The latest episode delves into the intriguing journey of Jake Paul, showcasing his remarkable ascent on YouTube and in the boxing realm. Titled "Untold: Jake Paul the Problem Child," this installment features exclusive interviews with Jake's brother, Logan Paul, and delves deep into their intricate dynamic with their father.
Jake revealed that their parents, particularly their father, were exceptionally strict, leading to constant clashes between Logan and himself against their father. However, when confronted with allegations of abuse, Logan chose to downplay the severity.
"Damn. Greg Paul is a freaking force to be reckoned with. He's a real troublemaker. That guy is beyond intense," expressed Logan. "While Jake may use the term 'abusive,' I personally lean towards something not entirely legal."
Greg was also interviewed for the documentary. "Many individuals often comment, 'Oh, my God, you're so strict with your children.' Alright, hand me your child for a fortnight. By the time your child returns, they will have undoubtedly grown into a more refined individual," he asserted.

“Yeah, my dad would slap the s—t out of me,” Jake claimed. “I don’t resent it. I’m understanding of why he did that — that’s all he knew.”
Greg then denied the allegations, stating that he had never physically harmed his children. However, he did admit to picking up and throwing Jake on a couch a few times. When Jake expressed fear, Greg responded by saying that it was a father's role to be assertive. He also questioned whether it would be preferable to have individuals like him or someone who focused on emotions in a situation where harassment or violence occurred. Despite the claims of abuse, Jake acknowledged on camera that he attributes much of his success to his father's tough parenting style, which sparked his and his brother's imaginations and led them to start filming their lives.

With their YouTube channels gaining popularity, both brothers, Jake and his sibling, landed a coveted spot on Disney Channel's Bizaardvark. As their fame grew, so did the tensions between them, both online and offline.
Logan said that Greg's upbringing and Jake's prolonged experience living in his shadow ignited a relentless determination in Jake that is incredibly difficult to extinguish. He vehemently stated that their conflicts were not fabricated for the sake of garnering attention.
Both Jake and Logan found themselves entangled in scandal, with Jake facing allegations of sexual assault (which he vehemently denied) and engaging in disruptive behaviors towards his neighbors and numerous other shenanigans. As a consequence, Disney severed ties with the influential figure. Surprisingly, their individual controversies ended up forging a stronger bond between the two brothers.
Jake acknowledged that it was effortless for people to criticize and find faults in him, leading to widespread animosity towards him. He expressed the difficulty of being despised by the global population. According to his father, Logan, their family experienced immense concern for Jake's well-being when he was just two months away from financial ruin.
"Jake has always displayed erratic emotional behavior," Logan shared. "At one point, both of us genuinely feared that Jake was contemplating suicide. He was in desperate need of direction."
Seeking a new purpose, Jake found solace in boxing when renowned UK YouTubers, KSI and Deji, challenged him and Logan to a fight.
Jake stated that his experience in the entertainment industry has a direct connection to boxing, as boxing is essentially a form of show business. Emphasizing the entertainment aspect, he mentioned that boxing is first and foremost a show. Jake then highlighted his success by collaborating with promoter Nakisa Bidarian, despite ongoing doubts about his credibility in the sport.

"People often overlook the fact that it's a business before anything else - it's about entertaining people. And the more skilled you are at marketing and providing entertainment, the more likely people are to purchase your fights. That's where The Problem Child persona came from," he explained. "I've always had a knack for trash talking. Growing up, my uncles would constantly engage in fiery banter, yelling and insulting each other. It's just a part of who I am."
After three years in the boxing industry, Jake finally took on his first professional opponent in the ring - Tommy Fury, the half-brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury - in February 2023.
"You know what ties us all together? Me, Jake, Greg Paul, John Fury, Tommy Fury, Tyson Fury – we all have a few loose screws, buddy," Logan remarked prior to the match.
Although Tommy emerged victorious through a split decision, it garnered Jake accolades from certain sceptics, including Mike Tyson.
"He performs heroic actions, but he doesn't conform to the standards set by conventional heroes, you understand?" Tyson remarked. "He has contributed more to boxing than several champions combined. Look, I admire individuals who have the ability to draw a crowd. ... As long as he keeps fighting, he will be instrumental in reviving the sport of boxing."
Netflix's upcoming episodes of Untold, airing later this month, will feature stories about Johnny Manziel, Victor Conte, and the Florida Gators.
