Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Ahsoka episode 6
Summary
Grand Admiral Thrawn is conveying enigmatic crates onto his Star Destroyer, indicating a sinister shift in his reappearance within the familiar galaxy.
Given their dimensions, placement within catacombs, and the clues provided by Thrawn's remaining forces and the Nightsisters, it is highly probable that the crates house a legion of lifeless bodies.
Thrawn's collaboration with the Nightsisters possibly revolves around reviving their race and transporting their bodies to the main Star Wars galaxy. This sinister alliance could potentially give rise to an army of undead soldiers for Thrawn. In Ahsoka episode 6, the character of Grand Admiral Thrawn, portrayed by Lars Mikkelsen, is seen loading his Star Destroyer with enigmatic cargo. Although the exact contents of these crates have not been confirmed, the latest Star Wars series hints at a much darker outcome for Thrawn's reemergence in the familiar galaxy.
In Ahsoka episode 6, Ahsoka Tano (played by Rosario Dawson) and the Jedi droid Huyang are on their way to Peridea, an extragalactic world where Grand Admiral Thrawn, the former Imperial leader, has been living in exile. However, in this new episode, Thrawn's agents, including Morgan Elsbeth and her Dark Jedi mercenaries, have already arrived. They have also captured Mandalorian Sabine Wren. As the episode unfolds, we start to learn more about the nature of Thrawn's exile and hints about his future plans, including the contents of these mysterious crates.
The Crates Are Being Retrieved From The Catacombs... Meaning They're Probably Bodies
Shortly after Thrawn's debut in live-action during Episode 6 of Ahsoka, a large collection of crates is being loaded onto Thrawn's Star Destroyer, The Chimaera. This is part of Thrawn's agreement with the Great Mothers, three Nightsisters who helped him establish contact with the main Star Wars galaxy. Elsbeth mentions that it will take three rotations to transfer all the cargo and verifies that the crates were stored in the catacombs beneath the Great Mothers' Dathomiri temple.
Considering the size and location of the crates, it is highly probable that Thrawn's new cargo consists of a legion of corpses. Although it is not confirmed, clues can be inferred from the presence of Thrawn's remaining forces, known as the Night Troopers, as well as the known abilities and history of the Nightsisters themselves. Therefore, it is likely that there is a perilous reason why Thrawn is currently loading his starship with bodies.
Why Thrawn (& The Nightsisters) Would Want Bodies
It is unclear whether the aforementioned bodies belong to deceased Nightsisters or Stormtroopers who once served under Grand Admiral Thrawn's command. There is a possibility that the bodies being transferred are a mixture of the two groups, as the Great Mothers have allied themselves with Thrawn. It is conceivable that Thrawn has agreed to help them transport their deceased to the main Star Wars galaxy, enabling them to escape their original homeworld on his ship and revive their race in the process.
The Nightsisters possess the ability to resurrect using their dark magicks, as seen in the Clone Wars when they were nearly wiped out by Count Dooku and General Grievous. They relied on undead warriors to defend themselves. The introduction of the reanimated corpse of former Imperial Inquisitor Marrok by Elsbeth in Ahsoka, along with Thrawn directly referencing their powers, confirms the existence of resurrection abilities. Consequently, Thrawn's partnership with the Nightsisters could potentially lead to the Imperial Remnant becoming a true Imperial Resurrection upon their return to the main Star Wars galaxy.
The Nightsisters Can Give Thrawn An Undead Army
In the future of Ahsoka, it is highly likely that Grand Admiral Thrawn will acquire an army of the undead. This can be inferred from the damaged appearance of his Night Troopers, who seem to have been reanimated corpses under his command. Their broken armor, with gold serving as replacements for lost and damaged pieces, indicates that Thrawn and his Stormtroopers have faced a tumultuous exile. It is possible that the Nightsisters have already demonstrated their abilities to Thrawn by bringing back to life fallen soldiers of The Chimaera.
The combination of the Nightsisters' powers and the potential for an undead army intensifies concerns about Thrawn's imminent return. Upon reentering the main Star Wars storyline, it is conceivable that every deceased stormtrooper could be resurrected, strengthening the Imperial Remnant's military as hinted in Season 3 of The Mandalorian. Therefore, it is highly probable that the enigmatic crates in Ahsoka Episode 6 contain bodies, a prospect that is both thrilling and chilling for the final two episodes of Ahsoka and the broader Star Wars timeline.
