Hogwarts Legacy allows players to choose between a good or dark path, offering the option to learn and utilize the three Unforgivable Curses. The main way to embrace evil in the game is by performing dark spells like Crucio, Imperius, and Avada Kedavra, as there is no morality system with significant consequences. While it is understandable that the developers focused on the Unforgivable Curses as the most reprehensible form of dark magic in the wizarding world, it is worth noting that there is a wide range of other dark magic in the Harry Potter universe that is not featured in Hogwarts Legacy. This omission limits the game's scope in terms of Dark Arts spells, items, potions, and creatures that could have been included to provide a more diverse and immersive experience.

Dark Arts Spells And Items Not In Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy, however, does not include minor to moderate dark magic like jinxes and hexes, which are often seen in other Harry Potter video games. These types of magic could add excitement to side quests and encounters, particularly for players who enjoy mischievous or rebellious gameplay. Additionally, the game does not feature dark artifacts, such as bewitched books and objects, that enhance Dark Arts powers in unique ways beyond increasing damage. This exclusion is unfortunate, as discovering or crafting these types of magical items could provide a rewarding experience for players, especially considering the importance of objects like Horcruxes in the Harry Potter universe.

Dark Potions And Creature Breeding Not In Hogwarts Legacy

In addition, players who wish to pursue a Death Eater or dark wizard playstyle in Hogwarts Legacy are unable to concoct dark potions, such as the Drink of Despair, which could be used to unleash or entice enemies with its malevolent effects. Moreover, the game does not provide specialized vendors that sell dark wizarding items, like Knockturn Alley or other shady locations where rebellious wizards might find dark magic ingredients.

Furthermore, while players have the ability to designate a Room of Requirement inspired by dark arts, they are unable to create anything of a dark nature within it, such as breeding dark creatures like Basilisks, as mentioned in a Daily Prophet article from the time period depicted in Hogwarts Legacy. Instead, players are limited to battling specific foreboding adversaries, such as Acromantula and Inferi. Despite Hogwarts Legacy's expansive open-world gameplay, there is potential for the inclusion of additional dark arts content in a future installment, especially considering the unexpected popularity of Slytherin House.
