Fans were treated to an exciting new trailer for Persona 3 Reload, offering more details about the game's gameplay and party members. This highly anticipated remake, announced during the Xbox Games Showcase, promises to completely overhaul the original game, incorporating modernized features and fixes to make it more reminiscent of games like Persona 5. Atlus wasted no time in announcing that the game is set to release in early 2024, and they have promised to provide regular updates and information throughout the year to keep fans hyped for its release.
In keeping with the imagery, themes, and plot significance of the moon in Persona 3, Atlus has declared that these updates for Persona 3 Reload will be announced on every full moon, which occurs approximately once a month. This directly ties into the concept of the game, as powerful shadows called the "Full Moon" operation emerge from Tartarus and must be defeated. Interestingly, the full moon on July 3rd coincided with the schedule of Anime Expo, where a new trailer was unveiled, offering a glimpse of the remake's gameplay.
The trailer begins by quickly showcasing the school environment and highlighting Yukari Takeba, one of the main characters. It then proceeds to display Yukari engaging in combat with a bow and arrow, followed by a bonding scene between Junpei Iori and the protagonist. This scene suggests that there will be character development for the male members of the Persona 3 Reload party. Moreover, the trailer features SEES navigator Fuuka Yamigishi being rescued within Tartarus, as well as a conversation between her and the protagonist.
In the latter half of the trailer, SEES senior members Akihiko Sanada and Mitsuru Kirijo are shown. Mitsuru, acting as the student council president, gives a speech, while Akihiko showcases his impressive boxing skills as he battles shadows in Tartarus. He lands a critical hit and employs his Persona, Polydeuces. Notably, the trailer does not include Aigis, Ken Amada, and Shinjiro Aragaki, who are members of Persona 3's party. However, it is likely that they will be revealed in future announcements.
The new trailer for Persona 3 Reload showcases the fresh voice cast, featuring all major party members except Ken, Shinjiro, and Aigis, each given a chance to speak. The audience eagerly awaited these new portrayals, praising the actors for their perfect fit into their respective roles. Particularly, Akihiko, Mitsuru, and Junpei received special recognition. Fans can expect more details about the game and the remaining party members as the next full moons approach on August 1 and August 31. Persona 3 Reload will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in early 2024.
