The Seattle Seahawks showcased their defensive prowess in a dominant 24-3 victory over the New York Giants on Monday Night Football at MetLife Stadium

The Seattle Seahawks dominated the New York Giants in a resounding 24-3 win at MetLife Stadium on Monday. Anchored by a formidable defense, the Seahawks achieved a franchise record by racking up 11 sacks, 10 of which were on Giants' quarterback Daniel Jones.

Linebacker Bobby Wagner spearheaded the Seattle defense with a remarkable 17 tackles and two sacks. Additionally, Jordyn Brooks, Devon Witherspoon, and Uchenna Nwosu each contributed with two sacks. Notably, rookie cornerback Witherspoon had the standout performance of the evening, intercepting Jones in the third quarter and returning the ball for an impressive 97-yard touchdown. This play significantly shifted the game's dynamics, transforming what could have been a closely contested match into a commanding triumph for Seattle.

"We are not a finished product; we are just getting started," expressed Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll.

"It is truly exhilarating to share this with you, as I believe our greatest accomplishment is the remarkable performance we have shown in the second half of the past three weeks."

Head coach Pete Carroll issues instructions during the Seahawks' victory against the New York Giants.

When asked about Witherspoon, the 5th overall pick in this year's NFL draft, Carroll responded by saying, "I never doubted that he would perform at this level. We selected him for his active presence and his ability to grasp the intricacies of football. It's evident that he has a natural talent for the game, showcasing his explosiveness and dynamic skills."

The Seahawks, with a record of 3-1, are heading into a bye in Week 5. According to ESPN, the Giants, on the other hand, have a 1-3 record and have only held the lead for a combined 19 seconds in their four games this season.

While the Seahawks delivered an outstanding defensive performance, unfortunately, their night was overshadowed by the injury of safety Jamal Adams. After being out for 13 months due to a quadriceps injury, Adams suffered a concussion on the ninth play of the game.

Carroll assured, "He will make a full recovery. Due to a head injury, he will not be able to participate in this game. However, with proper preparations and the upcoming week off, I am confident that he will be back in action. It is just a minor setback at the moment."

In the opening quarter, Seattle's quarterback Geno Smith connected with DK Metcalf for a touchdown, kick-starting the scoring. Shortly after, Noah Fant skillfully evaded two tackles, gaining 51 yards and paving the way for Kenneth Walker III to secure a touchdown on the following play.

Smith sustained a knee injury when he caught his own pass, which was deflected back to him during the first quarter. Despite the setback, he displayed resilience by rejoining the game during the second half. In a post-match interview, Smith acknowledged experiencing "some slight pain" but expressed relief as he stated that he emerged unscathed, thanks to Isaiah Simmons' tackle.

The Giants' total offense was limited to 248 yards, and once again they suffered the consequences of a sluggish beginning as they were outscored 14-3 in the first half.

"We had a productive week during practice," stated Giants head coach Brian Daboll to reporters. "Our defense displayed some positive aspects but ultimately fell short. Additionally, our special teams committed numerous penalties, and our offense failed to score. We need to find a solution to improve in these areas."

The Giants now have two road games - against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday and the Buffalo Bills on October 16 - while the Seahawks are next in action against the Cincinnati Bengals on October 15.
