Players of the action RPG game Diablo 4 will be required to gather various items such as materials, weapons, and armor to enhance their characters. During their exploration of the Sanctuary map, players must prioritize collecting Murmuring Obols, the in-game currency crucial to purchasing desired items from the Purveyor of Curiosities. To maximize the acquisition of these Obols, players must possess knowledge on where to buy them, how to farm them, and how to obtain them.
What are Murmuring Obols?
As of June 3, 2023, Diablo 4 has been released and is now available to fans worldwide. In this guide, we will provide information on how to obtain Murmuring Obols and what can be purchased with them. Whether you're a seasoned player or a newcomer to the game, this guide will help you navigate the world of Diablo 4 and make the most of your gaming experience.
Murmuring Obols serve as a unique currency that is exclusively accepted at the Purveyor of Curiosities. These merchants, identifiable on the map by a small moneybag icon, can be found in major cities throughout Sanctuary. Players can utilize their Murmuring Obols to purchase a random weapon or armor, or acquire Whispering Keys. It's important to note that these Obols can only be used for the item lottery and nothing else, eliminating any concerns about inadvertently spending in-game gold on gambling.
Players can purchase items from the shop by selecting the desired item type, which is then randomly generated by the shop. The item's rarity and stats are also randomized, ranging from common to legendary for Diablo 4 weapons, armor, and jewelry. The only exception is the Whispering Key, which unlocks Silent Chests in the wild. Murmuring Obols can be used to buy various items including amulets, axes, boots, bows, caps, crossbows, daggers, focuses, gloves, hammers, maces, pants, polearms, rings, staffs, swords, tunics, and wands. Each item has its own Obol price point.
Players can expand their Obol inventory account-wide by visiting the Altars of Lilith. While some altars improve a player's HP or stats, a few of them offer a +5 boost to the total number of Obols that can be held. In addition, players can also increase their Obol capacity by earning zone renown rewards. Initially, players can hold up to 500 Obols.
Where to Get Murmuring Obols in Diablo 4
Sanctuary is littered with Obols waiting to be picked up by players. These valuable currencies can be found hidden away in chests or lying around in dungeons. However, for those looking to maximize their Obol collection, World Events are the way to go. In Fractured Peaks alone, there are a number of events that offer generous Obol rewards.
Completing Diablo 4 World Events will allow players to earn Obols, with higher amounts rewarded if the Mastery objective is achieved.
What are Murmuring Caches in Diablo 4?
In Diablo 4, Murmuring Caches serve as storage units for 50 Obols each. However, players should exercise caution when approaching them, as they do not contribute to their overall Obol count. If a player is nearing their Obol cap, which let's say is 500, and they already have 475 Obols, opening a Cache would result in a loss of 25 Obols. It is advisable to refrain from opening these Caches until the player can visit the Purveyor of Curiosities.
Diablo 4 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.
