The Intrigue of Gaal Dornick's Mysterious Ability
Foundation has yet to explain one of Gaal Dornick's best abilities, hence why it needs to come into focus in Foundation season 3. While Foundation has covered a lot of her backstory and capabilities, questions remain regarding some of her powers. In fact, she has one ability in particular that has long been shrouded in mystery.

One of the most interesting and powerful Foundation characters, Gaal has found various ways to survive the huge time jumps in the show, despite the fact she would be long dead if not for her ingenious solutions and her desire to aid humanity. Much of what she's been able to accomplish can be attributed to the abilities she possesses. One has enabled her to survive some truly dire circumstances, yet the nature of it hasn't been delved into in Foundation. However, that could change as time passes.

Foundation Season 3 Needs To Explain How Gaal Dornick Kept Her Sanity After Waking Up During Light-Speed Travel. It's only happened once. In the world of Foundation, traveling at light speed is a very difficult thing for the human mind to process. Being conscious during a light-speed voyage causes insanity in its passengers. However, there is a subspecies of genetically augmented humans developed by the Empire to help them navigate Imperial jumpships. Known as Spacers, they've have had their physiology altered and their perceptions slowed so that they can tolerate the mental strain of traveling by jumpship while conscious. Spacers are responsible for monitoring unaltered humans during a light-speed voyage, as ordinary people are put into a state of unconsciousness for the duration of the journey. Foundation season 1 shows Gaal on such a voyage between her homeworld of Synnax and Trantor. In transit between the two planets, Gaal awakens from her induced slumber and takes in her surroundings. When a nearby Spacer notices this, the character asks how she is awake at all before rendering her unconscious again. Foundation seasons 1 and 2 avoided any follow-up references, meaning that the mystery of how Gaal does not lose her mind in the wake of witnessing light-speed travel remains unresolved. In season 3, Gaal's abilities are set to be pushed to their limits, and so an explanation for this one in particular would be a welcome inclusion.

What Foundation Has Teased About Gaal Dornick's Abilities
She has other powers. Foundation has yet to address Gaal's talent for light-speed consciousness, but her other abilities have been explored at length. As well as being the only other person to understand the complex psychohistory calculations of Hari Seldon, Gaal can also see into the future - and interact with it. Foundation season 2 shows Gaal witnessing the coming of a violent warlord known as the Mule. While observing the Mule in the future, Gaal is attacked through time by the warlord, showing that her strong connection to other periods can also serve as one of her greatest weaknesses. Gaal also witnesses Salvor Hardin's death using her temporal abilities. Interestingly, the details of her daughter's demise were proven to be inaccurate.

Gaal's abilities classify her as a Mentallic in the world of Foundation, and she and Hari find a colony of other Mentallics who share similar powers. Gaal's status as one of these gifted individuals could explain why she is able to process light-speed travel when the feat should only be possible for Empire's Spacers. However, Gaal's Mentallic abilities have not been confirmed to be the reason for this. Depending on what comes next, Foundation season 3 could be the story that finally clears up this mystery.
