What Happens in Assassin's Creed Mirage's Ending
In Assassin's Creed Mirage, Basim embarks on a mission to join the Hidden Ones and eradicate the corrupt Order of the Ancients in Baghdad. Throughout his journey, Basim is haunted by recurring nightmares featuring a mysterious figure known as the "Jinni." These nightmares intensify as Basim eliminates more targets. Although the Jinni seems to vanish after his induction into the Hidden Ones, Basim reconnects with his childhood friend Nehal, who urges him to uncover the origin of the Jinni.
Eventually, Basim's path leads him to the Round Palace, the central hub of Baghdad, where he confronts his ultimate target within the Order of the Ancients - The Snake, the leader. Inside the palace, The Snake reveals to Basim that he possesses a rare quality and can only discover the truth about his identity by accessing the chamber beneath Alamut Castle, the training ground of the Hidden Ones. Before The Snake can provide any further information, Basim's mentor Roshan intervenes and kills her, warning Basim against returning to Alamut.
With Nehal's encouragement, Basim returns to Alamut Castle to find it under attack by the Caliphate Guard. In a thrilling duel with Roshan, Basim follows Nehal's guidance and unlocks the chamber's door using his own blood. Inside, he is astonished to discover a technologically advanced Isu facility, familiar to dedicated fans of Assassin's Creed as a crucial element in the series' narrative.
As Basim navigates the intricate passages of the Isu facility, he uncovers its true nature as a prison. Opening a monumental sarcophagus, he is astounded to find Nehal residing within. It is then that the revelation occurs - Nehal is not an actual individual, but the manifestation of Basim's past life memories, emerging from his subconscious to guide him to this significant moment. Unveiling the storyline in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, players come to understand that Basim is in fact the reincarnation of Loki, an ancient Isu who successfully transferred his consciousness through human DNA. Nehal embodies Loki's recollections within Basim's subconscious mind.
After coming into contact with an Isu disc - the very same artifact that marked the beginning of Basim's journey - he witnesses a distressing scene from his own past. In this vision, an unidentified figure mercilessly tortures him. While the torturer's identity remains concealed, it strongly suggests that Odin, the Isu who incarcerated Loki after the poisoning of his son Baldr, is responsible. This revelation is unveiled in the Dawn of Ragnarok DLC of Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Basim further unravels the enigma that the haunting Jinni, which has plagued him, embodies the memories of this torturer. The tale of Assassin's Creed Mirage culminates with Basim uniting with Nehal and thereby transforming into the complete reincarnation of Loki. Thus, he sets out on a quest to locate the reincarnation of Odin, portrayed as Eivor in Valhalla.
Assassin's Creed Mirage is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
