Netflix has released the highly anticipated Season 5 Part 2 of Virgin River, following the impactful first 10 episodes that aired in September. The season finale unveiled several major revelations, setting the stage for what's to come in season 6.
The last two episodes of Season 5 are now available for streaming on Netflix. Throughout the season, the charming small town's residents faced significant challenges, including a wildfire, miscarriages, and sexual assault, leading to moments of immense loss and emotional turmoil.
The second part of Season 5 provides a much-needed break from the intensity of the season. According to our three-star review, "Even as their ideal of a big, happy, family Christmas falls apart, the atmosphere is delightfully light, playful, and joyful."
As the season concludes, most of the events are neatly resolved. Lizzie reconciles with her mother, Jack's parents make amends, and Mel's father apologizes for his chilly reception on Christmas Eve. However, as much as we wish it could be Christmas every day, it's not. Families go their separate ways, the ice rink closes, and the wholesome atmosphere of these two episodes comes to an end as Virgin River returns to reality.
With another season on the horizon, the Season 5 finale teases plenty of more drama to come. Spoilers ahead!
Virgin River Season 5 ending: Which couples are still together?
The holiday season is a time for contemplation, and many couples found themselves engaging in challenging conversations about their relationship's direction. Despite this, all of our couples have chosen to remain committed to each other.
Muriel confided in Cameron about her concerns regarding not wanting children and not wanting him to resent her if he stays. Cameron, the kind-hearted doctor, assured her that she is all the family he needs. However, Muriel urged him to take the time to think about what he would be sacrificing.
Meanwhile, Brie is still in a relationship with Mike, who swooped in when her ex-boyfriend, Brady, exited the scene. Brady has also moved on with a local girl named Lark earlier in the season, but it seems their happiness may not last much longer.
Does Mel find her father?
The former lovers are still irresistibly drawn to each other, especially during the holiday season when they unexpectedly cross paths at festive gatherings. Brady goes as far as admitting that he still has feelings for her, and they come close to sharing a kiss. With Brady's secret life as a police informant now exposed, there is a chance for the couple to reignite their relationship.
After wandering through the town and receiving assistance from Santa, Mel finally uncovers the identity of her father. The locals affectionately know him as Champ, in honor of his victory in the 1976 Virgin River lumberjack games, but his true name is Evert Reed.
At first, Evert is not receptive when Mel shows up at his doorstep. He turns her away, insisting that he is not the person she is seeking. However, he later visits her cabin to apologize and admits that he struggled with her sudden appearance due to her striking resemblance to her mother. He assures her that he wants to be a part of her life and offers her the opportunity to hear her mother's voice again by reading the letters she had written to him.
Does Charmaine give birth?
Evert ominously reveals that he has “something important” to tell her before they begin to get to know each other. As the conversation continues and Mel’s face falls, the camera pans away. But what did he tell her? And how will this affect the future of their relationship? Only time will tell.

Charmaine finally gives birth to twin boys in the season finale, after a four-season pregnancy. Even the hairdresser remarks on the unusually lengthy baby bump, joking, "I feel like I've been pregnant for years."
Mel even has to cancel her holiday plans with Jack to assist his ex-girlfriend in delivering their twins. Despite Charmaine’s past behavior of using the twins to create distance between herself and Mel, she graciously accepts Mel's help and even compliments her when Jack wishes her luck with the birth. She says: “I don’t need luck, I’ve got Mel.”
What happens with Wes’ body?
In the Season 5 Part 1 finale, Kaia reveals that a raging fire revealed a previously buried body, which turns out to be Paige’s abusive ex-husband, Wes. Preacher helped her dispose of the body after she killed Wes in self-defense. During the festive season, Preacher’s friend Mike reassured him that there was nothing to worry about with the unidentified body. However, Mike later calls to inform him that the body has been confirmed as Wes, potentially leading to major repercussions for Preacher and Paige.
Yet, Paige has vanished, leaving no trace for anyone other than Preacher, leading to the possibility that he might be the one held accountable for her misdeeds. The question remains: what impact will this have on his burgeoning relationship with Kaia?
Who does Brady’s new girlfriend call?
Following his heroic rescue of Lark’s daughter from the wildfire, Brady quickly entered into a romantic relationship with the single mother. As plans for a holiday meeting with her family took shape, it seemed that the former troublemaker had turned over a new leaf and fully embraced the life of a family man, following Brie’s heartbreak and their subsequent breakup.
However, the idyllic holiday scene is disrupted when Lark excuses herself to take a call from her daughter’s father – none other than Jimmy’s right-hand man. It is then revealed that Lark and Jimmy had plotted for her to become involved with Brady as a form of revenge, after his involvement in Jimmy’s incarceration and the dismantling of Calvin’s criminal activities.
Brady's love life is not the only thing uncertain - his entire future is in question as the criminal gang has a sinister plan for the ex-marine. Watch Virgin River Season 5 Part 2 now available for streaming on Netflix. Check out more of our coverage below:
