Mark is engaged in a battle with Lucan in the Caves of Roclaine, but he is quickly overpowered by the Viltrumite soldier. Just as Lucan is about to kill him, Omni-Man intervenes by impaling him against the cave wall and then finally with a boulder.

After their encounter, Mark and his father emerge from the caves to find the city in ruins and thousands of dead Thraxans. Nolan struggles to process his grief, conflicted by his Viltrumite beliefs that prioritize their own superiority above all else. Mark reminds him that what he is feeling is simply the empathy he should have had all along on Earth.

Nolan battles Vidor as Mark gets disciplined by Thula. His father urges him to fight without restraint, saying "Stop holding back... she’s trying to kill you. If you’re not trying to kill her, you’re going to die. Don’t think: act. You need to fight like a Viltrumite." He then draws blood moments later. Nolan easily defeats Vidor by crushing his head with a double punch. Mark hesitates and pays the price when Thula slices his stomach open. He calls for Nolan’s help, who swiftly and violently kills Thula by throwing her to the side and snapping her back with her hair, causing her mouth to rip apart upon collision with his elbow.

“Don’t worry, it’s done,” Nolan reassures Mark, but this time, it’s clear that Nolan didn’t go far enough. Lucan swoops in like a mortar strike, shattering Omni-Man’s back before collapsing on the ground beside him. “It’s finished,” he utters with his dying breath.

Fading in and out of consciousness, Mark watches as Lucan is stretchered away and his father is secured onto one himself. “Mark, remember... the good I’ve done, my actions, my books... read my books, Mark,” he implores before Mark loses consciousness once more.

When Mark wakes up, he sees an eye-patched Viltrumite standing over him. The Viltrumite, General Kregg, introduces himself and informs Mark that he is alive. Mark inquires about Nolan, but Kregg orders him to listen and not speak. When Mark tells Kregg to go away, Kregg punches him hard.

Kregg then tells Mark that he has proven himself in battle and that he will be returning to Earth to continue his father's mission. He warns Mark that he must prepare the planet for Viltrumite rule and threatens to kill millions if Mark fails. Kregg assures Mark that they will check on his progress and that they do not change their minds. Good luck, he tells him.

Mark will be following in his father's footsteps, being tasked with not only alerting Earth of its impending conquest, but also playing a role in the conquering. Watch Invincible Season 2 Episodes 1-4 on Prime Video and sign up for access here. Explore our additional coverage below.

Editor's P/S

Invincible Season 2 Episode 4 was mind-blowing! The ending was so intense and shocking, I couldn't believe what was happening. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, and I couldn't look away.

The fight scene between Mark and Lucan was brutal and bloody. I loved seeing Mark finally stand up to his father and fight back. It was clear that he was outmatched, but he didn't give up. He fought with all his strength, and he never backed down. In the end, he was defeated, but he proved that he was a true warrior.

Overall, I thought Invincible Season 2 Episode 4 was one of the best episodes of the series so far. It was full of action, suspense, and gore. The ending was shocking and unpredictable, and I can't wait to see what happens next.
