The new poster for season 2 of Invincible has been released on the show's official Twitter page. Adapted from Robert Kirkman's Invincible comics, the animated series made its debut in 2021 to high praise. In season 1, viewers followed the story of 17-year-old Mark Grayson as he discovered his superpowers, joined the Guardians of the Globe, and uncovered secrets about his father Omni-Man, who is Earth's most powerful superhero. Throughout his journey, Mark encountered a variety of superhero allies and enemies, all while facing the typical challenges of being a teenager.
The season 2 poster showcases Mark surrounded by his allies and enemies, all squeezed together on a bus, with the notable absence of Omni-Man. Take a look at the image below:
Mark's mother Debbie Grayson, Atom Eve, Rex Splode, Dupli-Kate, Cecil Stedman, Robot, and Allen the Alien, along with 17 other familiar characters from season 1, are riding on the bus with Mark. The poster is being unveiled ahead of the Invincible season 2 panel at San Diego Comic-Con, which is expected to disclose a more specific release date within the confirmed late 2023 release window.
What Will Happen In Invincible Season 2?
The next big question in season 2 revolves around Omni-Man's future. Rather than carrying out his mission to annihilate humanity and establish the Viltrum Empire on Earth, he made the unexpected choice to spare his son's life and depart. Season 2 is poised to unveil the whereabouts of Omni-Man, his next course of action, and the implications for Mark, the Guardians of the Globe, and the entire planet. Given that Omni-Man formerly served as Earth's primary defender, Mark will now face the challenge of stepping up like never before.
The main villain, Angstrom Levy, made a secret appearance in the trailer for season 2 of The Invincible. In the comics, Levy is one of Mark's most prominent enemies and holds a personal grudge against him across different dimensions. Levy's arrival sets the stage for the show's exploration of the multiverse. Season 2 will likely delve into Levy's quest for revenge against Mark, drawing inspiration from their conflict in the source material.
Additionally, Kirkman has hinted at the significance of the montage shown in the season 1 finale of Invincible. This montage showcases surviving supervillains and alien species that posed a threat to Earth in the previous season, some of whom are featured in the season 2 poster. Amongst them is Cecil, whose methods of protecting Earth often raise moral questions. In season 2, Mark and the Guardians of the Globe will have their hands full dealing with these returning threats, as well as the new menace brought forth by Levy and the enigma surrounding Omni-Man.
