In Assassin's Creed Nexus, players can now immerse themselves in the virtual reality world as Ezio, Connor, and Kassandra. This exciting new installment introduces a fresh storyline where these characters, after their respective main games, come across a mysterious Isu artifact that connects them in some way. As is typical of the Assassin's Creed series, this captivating narrative unfolds over various centuries.
While it remains uncertain if only these three characters will be playable in Assassin's Creed Nexus, or if the focus will primarily be on VR gameplay, it is clear that the expansion of each character's story is a significant aspect of the game. Kassandra, being immortal, could theoretically have her story take place in any location, yet it is intriguingly close to her own home. Furthermore, this development holds profound implications for her overarching story.
Assassin's Creed Nexus is Roughly 18 Years After AC Odyssey
During the Thirty Tyrants era, which started in 404 BC and lasted for approximately eight months, Kassandra's storyline in AC Nexus unfolds. This period marked the defeat of Athens by Sparta in the Peloponnesian War, and the installation of a government consisting of Thirty individuals, with Critias and Theramenes being the most prominent figures. This oppressive regime, known as the Thirty Tyrants, unleashed a reign of terror characterized by widespread violence, seizure of property, exile of supporters of democracy, and other atrocities. It is widely believed that Socrates' loose affiliation with the Thirty Tyrants ultimately led to his demise.
The outcome of the story is yet to be revealed, but Thasybulus' rebel forces successfully overthrow the Thirty Tyrants. It is highly possible that Kassandra is aligned with them and potentially collaborates with the Hidden Ones. While it is evident in the Crossover that Kassandra does not openly work with the Hidden Ones or Assassins, she has consistently been a dedicated ally to their cause. The game will hopefully provide an explanation, considering that Kassandra is confirmed to possess a Hidden Blade. This specific detail significantly impacts her character development spanning across centuries. If Ubisoft chooses to keep it a mystery, it would narrow down the timeline but only serve as a teaser for fans. At this point, a proper explanation is warranted, especially considering her history and apparent connection to Ezio and Connor. It is evident that fans should not dismiss AC Nexus as a mere spin-off; it deserves to be treated as a significant addition to the Assassin's Creed franchise. Assassin's Creed Nexus will be available for Meta Quest devices during the holiday season of 2023.
