Big Brother fans can certainly expect the unexpected because a new contestant entered the game during the season 25 premiere.

"Guess who's back with a surprise? It's Cirie Fields, known from Survivor seasons 12, 16, 20, and 34," exclaimed Cirie in a clip shared on the official Big Brother Twitter page on Wednesday, August 2nd. In the clip, she further added, "If you aren't familiar with me, get ready to meet me on Big Brother."

Big Brother's caption for the post read: "A surprise awaits in the #BB25 Multiverse... Introducing the 17th houseguest, #BBCirie from @survivorcbs!"

Just hours before the premiere and live move-in on Wednesday, the reality show dropped a hint about a surprise addition to the game. Previously, the show had confirmed that there would be 16 participants this season. The official Twitter page of the reality series announced the news by teasing, "BREAKING NEWS: The #BB25 multiverse will introduce a mystery 17th HG. Any guesses on who it could be?"

Fans congregated in the comments section, eagerly sharing their speculations about the enigmatic houseguest's identity. One prominent figure frequently mentioned was Cirie, a 53-year-old individual. The official cast announcement on July 31 confirmed that Cirie's son, Jared, was among the 16 houseguests. Prior to entering the house, the 25-year-old Jared informed fans via an Instagram Reel on the show's official page that his mother was a renowned figure in the world of "Survivor." Over the course of the show's history, Cirie had participated in the competition series on four occasions: in 2006 for "Panama," in 2008 for "Micronesia," in 2010 for "Heroes Vs. Villains," and in 2017 for "Game Changers." In the latter season, Jared made a brief appearance as a loved one accompanying his mother.

Despite never winning Survivor, Cirie is widely regarded as one of the greatest players to have never claimed the million-dollar prize. In a recent triumph, Cirie was crowned the champion of Peacock's inaugural season of The Traitors. Opening up exclusively to We, Cirie shared her adoration for Big Brother and her long-standing dream of competing on the show.

"I would absolutely love to be on Big Brother! Whenever I mention this to the Survivor folks, they tell me, 'No, you're destined for Survivor,'" she revealed to Us in January. "Personally, I believe that if I had the opportunity to compete on Big Brother first, I would have undoubtedly emerged victorious."

Fans had speculated that Britney Haynes, a beloved contestant, might make a comeback. Before the cast was revealed, Britney, alongside Frankie Grande and Danielle Reyes, entered the house to rectify their past mistakes using a time laser. Unfortunately, their plan didn't turn out as expected and instead brought about a new twist in the game.

Despite the anticipation from Big Brother fans about Britney's possible return, she took to Twitter on Wednesday to dispel the rumors. She posted a photo of herself holding a paper edited to show Wednesday's date, which was from her time competing on the Amazing Race with fellow Big Brother alum Janelle Pierzina.

"To debunk the rumors, I am entertained by the idea of taking a picture of myself holding today's newspaper," she playfully taunted Janelle, who gained fame by telling fans she was going to Greece before isolating herself in preparation for her appearance on Big Brother 14. "This is exactly what newspapers in Greece look like."
