It is not advisable to provoke the security forces in Cydonia, but the responsive incident timer adds an element of intrigue for bold players.
Starfield provides players with numerous missions taking place on Mars, offering them ample chances to explore the Red Planet and uncover additional hidden surprises.
A player exploring Mars in Starfield made an exciting interactive discovery, adding to the game's immersive world and showcasing the exceptional attention to detail put into its creation. Bethesda's latest RPG, Starfield, was released for PC and Xbox consoles on September 6. The Premium Edition allowed players to enjoy the game five days ahead of the official launch and receive exclusive pre-order bonuses.
That group also includes Cade Onder, who was among the first to explore the Mars colony of Cydonia in Starfield during its early access phase. During his travels, he stumbled upon a fascinating interactive element. It turns out that the "hours without incident" counter, located in one of the lower sections of the settlement, is not merely decorative, but actually responds to the actions of the player. In a short video shared on Twitter, Cade demonstrated this feature by attacking a nearby Trackers Alliance agent while the counter displayed 57 hours. After eliminating the unsuspecting NPC, Cade turned his attention back to the counter, observing that it had reset to zero.
While it is generally unwise to provoke the security forces in Cydonia or any other major settlement in Starfield, as they are equipped with formidable firepower and can overpower even the most experienced players, this newly discovered detail serves as a unique and intriguing nod to those daring enough to embark on a rampage in Cydonia. Moreover, the reactive incident timer is just one of many hidden surprises that Starfield players can uncover on Mars.
Fans eager to explore the Red Planet can do so almost immediately in a new campaign. Although Starfield's story takes time to unfold, its vast universe opens up after a short prologue similar in length to introductions in Bethesda's previous games like Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. Many quests, including the main story missions, also take place on Mars, suggesting that players will likely spend a significant amount of time exploring the planet.
Now that Bethesda's latest title has left early access and reached a larger audience, the chances of discovering numerous Starfield Easter eggs are significantly higher. This doesn't diminish the RPG's potential for success, as demonstrated by Starfield's ranking among the top 10 most-played Steam games even before its official release.
Starfield is available now for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
