Highlights

Nintendo Switch Online is bringing three previously Japan-only games to the West for the first time, including Kirby's Star Stacker and Joy Mech Fight.

The service has continuously broadened its collection of timeless titles, introducing thrilling additions such as ExciteBike 64 and The Legend of Zelda Oracle games. Although these newly added games are only available in Japanese, they serve as a delightful treat for well-versed Nintendo enthusiasts.

The Nintendo Switch Online service is bringing three games that were previously only available in Japan to the West for the first time. Kirby's Star Stacker, Downtown Nekketsu March Super-Awesome Field Day, and Joy Mech Fight, originally released on the SNES and NES systems, will now be accessible to Western players. Additionally, Nintendo has announced the addition of another Game Boy game to the Nintendo Switch Online subscription service.

Over the past few years, the Nintendo Switch Online service has been steadily expanding its collection of classic titles. For instance, the recently introduced Expansion Pack tier now includes ExciteBike 64, allowing Nintendo fans to enjoy the N64 racing classic with the added bonus of online multiplayer. The first tier of the service has also been consistently adding new games, such as the inclusion of The Legend of Zelda Oracle duology for Game Boy in July. Fans familiar with Nintendo's history will appreciate the inclusion of these previously exclusive Japanese games in the service.

These four games, comprising two NES games, one SNES game, and one Game Boy game, are now available to play in the latest NSO update. Notably, Kirby's Star Stacker, a Super Famicom remake of the original Game Boy game released exclusively in Japan, is among them. While this Kirby game has been previously ported via Virtual Console, its NSO release marks its first availability in the West.

Additionally, two Japan-only NES games have been added: Downtown Nekketsu March Super-Awesome Field Day and Joy Mech Fight. The former is an action sports spin-off of the Kunio-kun series (known as River City Ransom in the West), where four players compete in various athletic events to earn points. Joy Mech Fight, on the other hand, was Nintendo's endeavor into the fighting game genre, inspired by the success of Capcom's Street Fighter 2. Additionally, Sukapon, the main character from Joy Mech Fight, has even appeared as an assist trophy in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

The three titles mentioned earlier, along with Quest for Camelot, have been added to the service. However, it is important to note that these Japanese exclusive titles can only be played in their original language, without any English translation. Quest for Camelot, developed by Titus Interactive, is an underrated Game Boy game inspired by the 1998 Warner Bros. animated film of the same name. Along with Quest for Camelot, Kirby's Star Stacker, Downtown Nekketsu March Super-Awesome Field Day, and Joy Mech Fight are now accessible for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers.
