'OMITB' Season 3 Finale Explained: Who Killed Ben and Who Is the Next Victim?

Only Murders in the Building finally revealed who killed Ben during the season 3 finale — and it's safe to say none of Us saw that coming.

In the season 2 finale of Oliver's play Death Rattle, Ben (played by Paul Rudd) was introduced. However, in season 3, it was revealed that there was more to the story than initially assumed. Ben died not once, but twice on opening night. He was poisoned before his stage performance, managing to survive long enough to make amends before tragically falling to his death.

Unfortunately, the second attempt on Ben's life wasn't as forgiving. He was pushed down an elevator shaft, resulting in his demise. The Hulu series presented several suspects, including Charles (played by Steve Martin), Loretta (played by Meryl Streep), and Donna (played by Linda Emond). Eventually, it was discovered that Donna was the one who targeted Ben. However, her plan wasn't to kill him, but rather to make him sick. After Ben survived Donna's poisoning, he put the pieces together. Yet, it was Donna's son Cliff (played by Wesley Taylor) who ultimately completed the job in order to protect his mother.

Mabel

Upon investigating Donna, Mabel successfully deduced that she was not responsible for the second attempted murder. Mabel confronted the actual culprit, Cliff, resulting in a dramatic scene where he attempted to leap to his demise at the theater. Fortunately, Mabel, along with the help of the others, managed to persuade Cliff to reconsider, ultimately leading to the arrest of both Cliff and his mother.

In addition, Mabel reached a crucial decision about her future, opting to remain in New York instead of relocating to Los Angeles with Tobert (Jesse Williams).
