Uncovering the Tortured Gifts of Mysteries and How to Farm Helltides in Diablo 4Helltides, the newly introduced events in Diablo 4, provide players with a unique opportunity to grind for gear like never before. These areas are constantly besieged by hordes of demons, resulting in increased chances of receiving loot drops. Moreover, players can also adopt a targeted approach to farming the gear they desire.
Tortured Gifts are a valuable source of items in Diablo 4, especially for those in the late-game. However, for endgame players seeking Ancestral items, the Tortured Gifts of Mysteries, also known as Mystery Chests, offer a more targeted approach.
Diablo 4: What are Tortured Gifts of Mysteries?
Mysterious Gifts of Torment are a rare sight, only revealing themselves during Helltides. These elusive chests contain a random selection of items and boast higher drop rates than their more common counterparts.
As players progress to World Tier 3, the dreaded Helltides will begin to surface throughout Sanctuary. While exploring these areas, players will encounter regular Tortured Gifts marked on their maps, which offer specialized drops including weapons, accessories, and armor pieces.
In contrast, Tortured Gifts of Mysteries are not indicated on the map and can only be discovered by approaching their hidden locations. Although they are more challenging to find and open at a higher cost, these gifts typically yield superior loot compared to standard Helltide chests.
Luckily, Tortured Gift of Mysteries chests are known to have multiple predetermined spawn points within each region. Once a player discovers the location of one chest during a Helltide event, they can expect it to appear again in the same spot during future events. It's recommended to make note of these spawn points to ensure they can be easily located in the future.
How to Farm Helltides
To unlock the Tortured Gift chests, players need to use Aberrant Cinders which can be obtained by defeating monsters or Damned Souls with a red, misty aura. The number of Cinders required varies depending on the chest, with mystery chests requiring 175 Cinders as a reference point.
To efficiently farm Aberrant Cinders, it is recommended to alternate between event zones within a region. During active Helltides, public events tend to occur more frequently, providing players with both their regular rewards and Aberrant Cinders upon completion. Additionally, events follow a set spawn location pattern in each region, so keeping track of their occurrence locations can help avoid missing out on potential rewards.
Moreover, players can expect an increase in monster spawns in Helltide areas. Demon dens and cannibal camps are likely to be more densely populated, providing players with ideal locations to hunt and battle. Additionally, players may come across cultists throughout the game who summon massive demons that drop Aberrant Cinders when defeated. Finally, higher difficulty levels will see a surge in elite monsters roaming the world. Diablo 4 is accessible on multiple platforms including PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, and PS5.
