Unlocking the Secrets: A Comprehensive Walkthrough of Alan Wake 2: Initiation

In Initiation 2: Casey, players who have a basic understanding of mechanics in the Dark Place from the previous chapter will face heightened challenges. They must remain vigilant while searching for the subway, either by evading or confronting shadows. Making matters more difficult, some shadows unexpectedly transform into Taken, catching players off guard.

The majority of this chapter, Initiation 2: Casey, unfolds within the intricate subway tunnels. Getting lost and unsure of the next steps is a common occurrence. Here's a glimpse of what Alan Wake 2 players can anticipate encountering during this chapter.

This walkthrough contains spoilers, so players should proceed with caution.

Use Light to Get Inside Caldera St. Station

After the cutscene concludes, players should locate a map positioned to the left of the phone booth. This map will provide a visual representation of the surrounding area, assisting in the navigation to Caldera Street Station. Proceed in a northern direction towards Caldera Street Plaza. Regrettably, the entrance to the subway is currently absent. Players will need to procure a light source, as done in the previous chapter, in order to progress further.

Head to Caldera Street Plaza on the west side and search for a neon sign labeled Neighborhood Illumination. Proceed down the alley indicated by the arrow to trigger a cutscene. Once the cutscene concludes, go to the end of the alley. After Casey finishes speaking, retrieve the flashlight and gun lying on the ground. Then, utilize the Angel Lamp to acquire the nearby light source.

While retracing your steps through the alley, you will encounter shadowy figures. Direct the flashlight towards them to make them vanish. Continue onwards until encountering a creature known as the Taken. Defeat it and then utilize the flashlight to eliminate the darkness obstructing the stairs at the alley's end. Return to the entrance of Caldera Street Station. Employ the Angel Lamp to unlock the stairs leading down to the subway station.

Find Another Light

Regrettably, progress is currently impeded. Players must seek an alternative light source to proceed deeper into the subway station. Prior to any further actions, navigate towards Draft Street and keep an eye out for a sequence of phone booths.

By utilizing the flashlight, players will discover a trail of arrows. Follow them and direct your gaze upwards to spot words encircling the underside of a bridge. Concentrate the flashlight on these words to acquire a Word of Power. These Words of Power can enhance Alan's abilities, enabling a higher chance of survival in the Dark Place.

While exploring this section of the Dark Place, players will come across numerous shadows. It is advisable to steer clear of them whenever possible and conserve batteries for those shadows that cannot be avoided.

To locate an additional source of light, pick up the one that illuminates the subway entrance and transfer it to a lamp post situated at the intersection of Caldera Street and Draft Street. This action will unveil a flight of stairs leading upwards. Cross the train tracks to discover a ladder. Ascend the ladder and keep an eye out for a door adorned with a yellow light above it. Open the door and descend the stairs to find an exit door. On the left side, there will be an open door leading to a room where players can manually save their progress.

Align the Echo By Approaching It From a Specific Angle

From the save room, head south towards the scaffolding and locate a door along with a staircase that ascends. This staircase leads to a source of bright light which can be obtained by using the Angel Lamp. Activating the light will transform the vehicle into a police car, causing the sirens to blare and attracting undesirable attention. Swiftly turn towards the metal grate and open the door. Proceed towards the light, acquire it, and then reopen the subway station.

Descend into the subway station and locate the second overhead light. This will unveil a gate that grants access to the deeper parts of the station. Approach the terminal and slide in your subway pass. Across the gate, an Echo awaits, accessible by maintaining a steady gaze from a specific vantage point. To accomplish this, keep an eye out for a pair of lights, one bright and one dim, suspended in the air. Once viewed from a precise angle, the two lights will merge, creating an eclipse-like phenomenon.

If the eclipse light emits a strong glow, it signifies that players are on the verge of activating the Echo. If using a controller, it will intensify its vibrations as players approach the precise alignment of the two lights.

Explore the Station

Acquiring this echo provides Alan with sufficient information for utilization on the Storyboard, which operates in a comparable manner to Saga's Case Board. Integration of this information clears the passages and grants players the ability to delve deeper. Notably, there will be noticeable bloodstains on the ground nearby. Follow these ominous marks as they lead to a door and a descending set of stairs.

This leads to another tunnel, where players will find a save spot. Adjacent to the save room is a subway map. Utilize the nearby train car to navigate past the debris. Track the trail of blood to progress. Follow the trail until reaching a collapsed tunnel. Return to the Storyboard to uncover a new route. Further ahead, players will encounter a light that can be used to remove an obstacle obstructing the path. Explore the vicinity for another echo, then return to the starting point of the collapsed tunnel.

Replace the portion regarding the Missing FBI Agent with the newly discovered Murder Cult on the Storyboard to alter the collapsed tunnel. Exit the collapsed tunnel and search for a flight of stairs leading down to a flooded area. Insert the Angel Lamp here to illuminate a way forward. In the subsequent area, locate a door adorned with graffiti reading "Scratch". Ascend the stairs to find a saving point and some lockers containing useful supplies such as batteries.

Search For the Cult

Ascend the adjacent ladder to uncover a train that has derailed. Retreat to the Storyboard to unlock a fresh route. Proceed into this unexplored area and diligently search for an echo to obtain a narrative thread pertaining to Torchbearers. Integrate the Torchbearers story thread into the Derailed Train scene to gain entry to the ravaged train. Traverse through the train carriages and proceed through the open doorway marked with an exit sign.

Descend the nearby ladder and continue down the steps towards yet another door. Descend further to arrive at another station equipped with a nearby save point. Exercise caution as there is a sizable gathering of shadows in close proximity.

Removing the light outside of the save point uncovers a fresh area. Obtain the second light from this room as well. Within the Shrine Street Station, multiple train cars are available for entry. Towards the eastern end of the Shrine Street Station lies a scene known as "End of the Line" that can be modified using story threads. Insert the Murder Cult story thread into this scene. There is an echo present here that players can utilize to acquire new information about the summoning ritual.

Utilize this newfound story thread to transform the area. Utilize a light source to open one of the train cars, but remain vigilant for any lurking shadows. Traverse through the train to gain access to the opposite side and proceed north through the door. Inside a small side room, you will discover a Word of Power that can be obtained, along with an echo. In the following room, search for a set of stairs ascending towards the Upper Platform.

Find the Murder Site

At the top of the stairs lies a Word of Power, concealed behind a gate. Ensure to utilize the nearby manual save point prior to proceeding. The alternate door within this vicinity will lead you back to the Main Tunnel. This is advantageous for players, as the subsequent step involves venturing towards the Collapsed Tunnel. Upon reentering the Collapsed Tunnel, access the storyboard and insert the Summoning Ritual story thread into this specific scene. Make your way towards the Collapsed Tunnel, but be ready to abruptly turn around.

The Dark Presence will suddenly appear, prompting you to swiftly dash towards the train. Once inside, initiate a QTE to unblock the door. Hasten to the save point and secure the door. When Alan indicates that he no longer hears the Dark Presence, it will be deemed safe to exit.

Regrettably, players are not yet in the clear. The Dark Presence will make a resurgence as players approach the collapsed tunnel. Urgently sprint through the freshly opened passage. Once you reach a cramped area that requires crawling, you can finally consider yourself out of harm's way.

On the opposite side of the tunnel, lies a mysterious location adorned with towering pillars and an altar holding the lifeless body of Nightingale. To progress the storyline, retrieve the nearby heart and initiate a cinematic sequence. Beside the altar, there is a fissure in the wall that players can venture through. Activate the echo within this area and proceed through the accessible doorway. Follow this route to reach Caldera Street Station. Ascend towards the exit leading back to the streets, making sure to collect the light along the way.

Journey towards Parliament Tower. At the southwest corner of the Parliament Tower Plaza, a payphone will start ringing. Respond to the call and then make your way back to the entrance of Parliament Tower. Enter the building and activate the echo, progressing further into the entryway. When the elevator arrives, step inside and activate the control panel. Once the elevator doors open, the next chapter will commence.

Where to Find Alice's Memory Card

Upon entering the apartment, begin searching for Alice, paying close attention to the back right corner where a door is located. Thoroughly explore the entire apartment, specifically the living room where a camera may be found on the table. However, take note that the camera is currently lacking a memory card, which can be discovered on the kitchen island.

Proceed to insert the memory card into the camera. This action initiates a captivating and extensive live-action presentation featuring Alice reminiscing about her experiences with Alan and the passage of 13 years between the first game and the second. Once this spectacle concludes, interact with the projector screen to initiate another captivating cutscene.
