Unlocking the Rewards: A Guide to Initiating Diablo 4's Abattoir of Zir Dungeon

The Abattoir of Zir dungeon can be accessed by crafting the Bloodforged Sigil, which costs 800 Sigil Powder at Tier 1 and increases from there. In order to craft it, you will need the Bloodforged Sigil recipe, which has some intense unlock requirements. To unlock the recipe you need to complete the Season Journey, which will require you to reach the seventh section and complete at least seven of the nine objectives. The reason for this is that Abattoir of Zir is a difficult activity, starting at the same difficulty as a Tier 100 Nightmare Dungeon, so you will need to have maxed-out Glyphs and pretty much perfect equipment.

How Abattoir of Zir works

To bypass this requirement, you will need to locate someone with access to the Abattoir of Zir. Upon completing a tier of the Abattoir of Zir for the first time, you will receive the recipe needed to craft the next tier. If you team up with an individual who possesses a Bloodforged Sigil and finish the dungeon with them, you will unlock the recipe for the subsequent tier. This allows you to bypass the Season Journey requirements, although you will only have access to Tier 2 and above.

Once you have crafted the Bloodforged Sigil and activated it, the Nightmare Dungeon will be unlocked. You will be transported to a randomly generated dungeon layout where the main objective remains the same: Defeat a large number of enemies to summon the Guardians, which are three Bloodseekers - elite vampire versions of the five playable classes. Both the initial objective and the boss encounters must be completed within a 10-minute time limit. There are a total of 25 tiers in the Abattoir of Zir, with each tier significantly increasing the damage and health of the enemies.

These dungeons have unique differences from other Nightmare Dungeons. They lack random attributes for the first few tiers, such as Avenger Enemies, and they are free of cursed Shrines, allowing every Shrine to be claimed without initiating an event. Enemies do not drop loot, except for the final bosses, who usually drop a couple of legendaries at power level 925.

The main challenge here is that dying results in an instant fail, no matter how many people are in your party. Whether you are playing solo or with a group, the death of one person leads to automatic failure, emphasizing the importance of defense as much as damage. If you fail, you do not get your Bloodforged Sigil back. Given the high Sigil Dust cost, it is advisable not to take this dungeon lightly.

Abattoir of Zir rewards in Diablo 4

The Tears of Blood glyph provides a considerable boost to damage output. While there are a few loot drops, the primary rewards in Abattoir of Zir are the new Glyph and Glyph XP. The Tears of Blood Glyph grants a 2% increase in damage for every 5 core stats purchased within its range, along with a 50% enhancement to rare nodes in range. With each regular node on the Paragon Board giving 5 of a specific stat, each node in range boosts your damage by 2%. This Glyph can be leveled up to level 25, adding an additional 0.1% damage per 5 core stat with each level.

The Tears of Blood Glyph requires a substantial amount of XP compared to other Glyphs, but Abattoir of Zir rewards a significant amount. Finishing a run at Tier 1 rewards 1,000 Glyph XP, with each tier offering an additional 100 XP. It's crucial to level up the Glyph as the best way to increase your stats and prepare for the next tier of Abattoir of Zir.

Abattoir of Zir is available for six weeks in Diablo 4, going away on January 16, when Season 2 ends.

Editor's P/S

As a hard fan of Diablo 4, I am thrilled about the introduction of the Abattoir of Zir dungeon. The concept of a challenging endgame activity that requires careful preparation and teamwork is exactly what I look for in a game like this. The fact that it offers unique rewards, such as the Tears of Blood Glyph, further enhances its appeal. I can't wait to dive into the dungeon and test my skills against its formidable enemies.

However, I do have some concerns about the difficulty level of the Abattoir of Zir. The requirement to have maxed-out Glyphs and perfect equipment seems quite daunting, and the fact that dying results in an instant fail adds to the pressure. I hope that the rewards will be worth the effort and that it won't be too frustrating for players who are not at the highest level of progression. Overall, I am excited about the Abattoir of Zir dungeon and believe it has the potential to be a great addition to Diablo 4.
