Unlock the Unexpected: Deathloop Trophy / Achievement Guide

Unlock the Didn't See It Coming achievement in Deathloop by tactfully eliminating a visionary without causing a cataclysmic explosion Discover two effective routes: the stealthy approach and the reactor-disabling strategy

The visionaries in Deathloop are powerful adversaries. This is intentional, as the game's storyline revolves around the challenge of eliminating them all within a single day. However, some prove to be more difficult than others. Among them is Fia Zborowska, an eccentric artist and supplier. Utilizing her unique roles, she has filled a base in Fristad Rock with paint, cameras, guards, and even a nuclear reactor. Additionally, she possesses the Havoc slab, which enables her to deliver powerful attacks while being nearly invulnerable to the player's damage.

Strategically-minded players may choose to avoid confronting her in her fortified base, but those seeking to accomplish all of Deathloop's achievements will be required to do so. The "Didn't See It Coming" trophy specifically charges players with eliminating Fia without triggering a disastrous chain of events. While this guide will provide instructions for achieving this, it remains a challenging feat.

How To Unlock the Didn't See It Coming Achievement

Fia can easily be killed by players once they have progressed enough in the story to learn her whereabouts in the afternoon. However, to earn the trophy, players must still attack her in her main bunker in Fristad Rock at Noon. The difficulty lies in the high level of security in the bunker, as being detected by a camera or guard will alert Fia and result in the reactor meltdown and the trophy being voided. Players who wish to retry quickly can reset the level by quitting to the main menu, without restarting the entire loop. There are two options for players to achieve the ultimate goal of killing Fia without triggering the reactor meltdown.

Sneak up on Fia and stealth kill her without alerting anyone in the bunker

Disable the reactor so breaking stealth does not matter

Players that prefer a more aggressive playstyle may gravitate towards option 2, which, although it does entail a certain degree of stealth, allows for a more guns-blazing approach. On the other hand, fans of Arkane's previous Dishonored games might lean towards option 1. To cater to all preferences, both strategies have been outlined below, with the aim of assisting players in their decision-making process.

Recommended Loadout:

Aether slab with Ghost and either Erase or Flicker upgrades

Shift slab with Reach and Airborne upgrades

Tribunal pistol with accuracy and zoom trinkets

Double jump trinket (Spring Heeled)

Power-boosting gadget (Enhanced)

Once out of the tunnels, players should ascend the cliff on the right. It is worth noting that Fia does not mind if enemies outside the bunker are alerted, so even those who prefer stealth can engage in a full-on assault before entering through the door located above the scrapyard. Descending through an elevator shaft and breaking through some boards, players should discreetly eliminate the two enemies in front of them and hack a nearby surveillance camera. The vehicle under inspection by the enemies has a hidden crank underneath it, which players should grab using the adjacent stairs and keep it within reach as they progress.

To proceed, players must enter a battery-locked room near the vent. Above them, they will notice two lasers, which they can bypass undetected by using the Aether ability. Towards the back of the room, players can kick open a ventilation shaft and follow it to a large room that houses the reactor and is infested with enemies. Here, players should utilize their Shift ability to teleport to the top of the reactor. It may be challenging to find the right position, but the nearby stairs offer the easiest access; however, reaching them requires precise timing or executing a few more stealth kills.

Once on top of the reactor, there is not much left to accomplish. Place the crank on the hatch that requires it, activate Aether once again, and cautiously descend with a machete at hand - ensuring that Fia is not directly below the hatch. Quietly approach her from behind and perform a stealth kill. If she remains unaware, the trophy will unlock shortly after.

The Stealthy Route

Shift slab with Reach and Airborne upgrades

Tribunal pistol with accuracy and zoom trinkets

A shotgun, revolver, or other strong close-range weapons

Double jump trinket (Spring Heeled)

Improved Version:

Juiced Up Power Extending Trinket Strategy:

This strategy is quite similar to the one mentioned above, but comes with an additional advantage. Players have the opportunity to break their stealth after completing a brief optional task. Once inside the bunker, forgo the need to acquire the crank. Instead, enter the nearby room containing a camera and examine the reactor schematics placed on a table towards the rear. These schematic diagrams indicate the randomized order in which the wires should be cut, requiring players to memorize the sequence.

Players should utilize Aether as they enter the room containing the reactor, quietly making their way to the designated area. They must then employ hacking techniques to gain access to the reactor's wires and carefully sever them individually, following the specific order indicated in the schematic. It is crucial to exercise caution, as an incorrect sequence may result in a catastrophic meltdown. Once the reactor is successfully disabled, players can proceed with a more aggressive approach. The trophy will be unlocked shortly after Fia's demise.

Deathloop can be played on PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
