Four games from the PlayStation Plus Premium catalog, namely Tekken 2 and Ridge Racer 2, are now offered for individual purchase. This is not uncommon, as many games available through PS Plus can also be bought separately. This appeals to those who are not interested in a subscription or prefer the assurance of owning the games even if they are later removed from the monthly service.

However, until now, a few games have only been accessible through a subscription, retro consoles, or arcades. The PlayStation Plus service regularly adds and removes games from its library, leaving players in the middle of a playthrough with the knowledge that a game will soon vanish from the service. This is where purchasing favorite games individually can be advantageous.

Until recently, four games developed by Namco were exclusively available to PS Plus Premium subscribers who wanted to enjoy them on PS4 or PS5. However, now players can directly purchase Tekken 2, Mr. Driller, Ridge Racer 2, and Ridge Racer Type 4 from the PlayStation Store at a price of $9.99 each.

Tekken 2 originally debuted in 1995 in arcades and later on the original PlayStation console. Recently, a pricing mistake occurred when it was listed on the PS Store for an astonishing $9,999.00, presumably due to an error in the pricing update. This mishap also occurred with Mr. Driller, causing both games to revert to being exclusively accessible through a PS Plus Premium subscription.

Meanwhile, Ridge Racer 2, which was released solely in arcades in 1994, differs from its name as it is not a true sequel but rather an enhanced version of the acclaimed PS1 launch title, Ridge Racer. Regarded as one of the greatest games ever created, Ridge Racer has garnered significant praise. Prior to this, Ridge Racer Type 4, another well-received installment in the series, was exclusively available on the PS1 upon its release in 1999. Many consider it to be the pinnacle of the franchise.

Mr. Driller stands out among these four Namco titles as it has been released on multiple platforms including Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. However, within the PlayStation ecosystem, it was exclusively available on PS1 and accessible through PS Plus. Interestingly, Mr. Driller was co-created by Yasuhito Nagaoka, the director of Ridger Racer Type 4. Fans now have the opportunity to acquire a digital copy of the game at an affordable price to enjoy on their PS4 or PS5 consoles.
