Marrying Penny

The protagonist escapes the chaos of city life and the exhausting routine at Joja Corporation by moving to Stardew Valley. Here, they can begin a new life in the countryside and rejuvenate their farm. In addition to farming, players have the opportunity to find true love, get married, and settle down. By making wise choices, players have the chance to get married within the first year of their farm life.

With approximately 45 townspeople, including 12 eligible bachelors and bachelorettes, players have a variety of options for potential spouses. One of these NPCs is Penny, a reserved and endearing girl. For players seeking a traditional homemaker as a spouse, Penny is the ideal choice. However, romancing her can be challenging as she is emotionally guarded and devotes her time to reading books and caring for her sick alcoholic mother, Pam.

Understanding the characters at a deeper level is crucial for forming strong connections in Stardew Valley. Each character follows a distinct daily routine. Penny, in particular, is quite active and frequently changes locations, making her relatively easy to locate.

Except during the Summer season, Penny can be found at the Library or Museum every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 AM to 2 PM, where she tutors Jas and Vincent. On Saturdays, from 10 AM to 5 PM, the trio spends time at the Graveyard and then enjoys some relaxation at the Playground.

From Monday to Thursday, and then on Saturday and Sunday, Penny spends her mornings at the Graveyard immersed in her books. Once noon rolls around, she heads back to the trailer to take care of her household chores. After completing her tasks, Penny often joins Maru on the Saloon bench to socialize. It's important to note that the schedule for these days varies depending on whether it's the Summer or Winter season.

Each villager in Stardew Valley has a Heart meter, with each heart representing 250 Friendship points. One of the most effective ways to increase Friendship points in Stardew Valley is by giving gifts to the villagers of Pelican Town. Penny, in particular, greatly appreciates receiving gifts, especially on her birthday (Fall 2). However, some of the gifts she prefers may be challenging for players who are just starting out to obtain.

Things Penny loves being gifted are:

Diamonds

Emeralds

Melon

Poppy

Poppyseed Muffin

Red Plate

Roots Platter

Tom Kha Soup

Sandfish

All Universal Loves, except Rabbit’s Feet

Things Penny likes being gifted include:

Dandelions

Leeks

All types of Milk

Every Artifact, including Dinosaur Eggs

Except for Algae Soup, Pale Broth, and any type of alcohol (such as Beer, Pale Ale, Piña coladas, and Wine), she has a preference for all Universal Likes.

To please her with gifts, it is important to note that many of her favorite items can only be grown in Summer, such as Melons and Poppies. Therefore, players should ensure to stock up on these crops and give them to her throughout Fall and Winter. Furthermore, she has a fondness for diamonds and emeralds, which can be obtained year-round from the Mines, but at specific levels. Diamonds are accessible only after reaching Level 50 in the Mines, whereas emeralds start appearing once players venture deeper into the Mines.

Two Hearts – Enter Pelican Town on a sunny day between 9 AM and 2 PM. Acknowledging that Penny did a kind thing boosts Friendship by 50 points.

Fragment Content (Rewritten):

Four Hearts – Wait for her to be at home and assist her in tidying up the trailer.

Six Hearts – When she is at home, join her in the trailer and give her recipe a try. Enhance your Friendship by 50 points by complimenting the food, even if you have to tell a little white lie.

Eight Hearts – Accompany Penny, Jas, and Vincent on a field trip and eagerly embrace the role of a guest speaker. Later, when Penny inquires about thoughts on starting a family, stating a preference for a large one increases Friendship points by 10-20.

Ten Hearts – Accompany Penny to the spa pool and confess feelings towards her.

Romance with a potential partner can commence once a player has achieved eight hearts with them. An opportunity presents itself when Pierre sends out a letter announcing the sale of Bouquets at his shop. Players can use these bouquets to enchant Penny, who will gladly accept, thereby upgrading her status to "Girlfriend" in the Social Menu.

Marrying Penny

Once players have reached ten hearts with Penny, they are able to marry her in Stardew Valley. In order to propose, Mayor Lewis will send a letter to the villagers stating that they can use a special necklace known as the Mermaid's Pendant. This pendant can be purchased for 5000 g from the Old Mariner, who can be found at the tidal pools on the beach during rainy days. To trigger the Old Mariner's appearance, players must use the Rain Totem during the winter season.

In order to access the Beach, players must either repair the bridge using 300 Wood or purchase the second community upgrade from Robin. To qualify for marriage, players must also upgrade their farmhouse at least once and have ten hearts with their chosen partner. Once the Pendant is accepted, players will become engaged to Penny.

Stardew Valley is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
