The world of Hogwarts Legacy may not be as vast as other modern open-world games, but it is certainly not small. Players will have the freedom to fully explore and experience the world. Among the various locations to visit is the small town of Marunweem, situated in the southeastern part of the world map. In Marunweem, players will encounter Marianne Moffett and embark on the "Birds of a Feather" side quest.
The "Birds of a Feather" quest becomes available to players during the third act of Hogwarts Legacy's main story, after they have discovered a book from the restricted section of the library. However, they will need to wait until a later stage to complete it, as they require the Nab Sack item, necessary for capturing beasts. Once they obtain the Nab Sack, players must journey to a beast den located on the west coast to successfully finish the quest.
Updated August 26th, 2023: Hogwarts Legacy offers a plethora of sidequests for players to explore. Among these quests, one noteworthy option is the Birds of a Feather quest. While this quest may seem straightforward, it can occasionally cause confusion. To assist players in successfully completing the Birds of a Feather Side Quest, we have enhanced our guide with an informative video.
How to Complete the Birds of a Feather Side Quest in Hogwarts Legacy
After discussing with Marianne and agreeing to assist in rescuing Gwyneira from poachers, players will receive a quest marker that indicates the location of the Diricawl den. In order for Gwyneira to appear, it is necessary to visit the den during nighttime hours. If it happens to be daytime, players may adjust the time by opening the map screen and pressing the right analog stick. Once darkness falls, Gwyneira stands out easily with her brilliant white feathers. Additionally, she will be labeled as "Gwyneira the Diricawl" when players lock onto her, setting her apart from the other birds present in the den identified simply as "Diricawls."
In order to capture Gwyneira, players must first lock onto her and then utilize the Nab Sack item, just as they would with any other creature. However, unlike the beasts players encountered during the Nab Sack tutorial quest with Deek the House Elf, capturing Gwyneira will involve four stages instead of three. Although she will be quite active during the process, as long as players can keep tabs on her, it shouldn't take an excessive amount of time to successfully secure the beast within the sack.
Should You Give Gwyneira to Marianne Moffett?
Once players have captured Gwyneira, they will need to utilize the Floo Flames location in Marunweem to quickly transport themselves there. Upon arrival, they should seek out Marianne and engage in a conversation with her. Marianne will then request that the players hand over Gwyneira, as it was her ingenious plan to "rescue" the bird from the poachers. At this juncture, players will be presented with three distinct options to choose from. Opting to give Gwyneira to Marianne will result in a generous reward of 300 Galleons. Alternatively, selecting the "It'll cost you." option will prove to be even more advantageous, as players will be bestowed with a noteworthy sum of 500 Galleons instead.
How to Get to Poidseer Coast
The final alternative grants players the opportunity to retain Gwyneira and bring her back to the Room of Requirement. If players choose this option, they will not receive any monetary reward. However, they will be treated to the entertaining spectacle of Marianne revealing her true colors and vehemently scolding the players. Undoubtedly, this can be a delightful experience to witness. Regardless of the chosen option, players will also be awarded with 180 XP and the Debonair Socialite Ensemble – an aesthetic item that can be utilized to personalize the appearance of specific Gear pieces.
To embark on the Birds of a Feather side quest in Hogwarts Legacy, players must first make their way to Poidseer Coast. However, this special area cannot be accessed by broomstick. Instead, players must navigate through a treacherous cave system infested with Goblins and assorted adversaries, including a couple of notorious foes. Thankfully, the Disillusionment charm comes to the rescue, allowing players to easily traverse the caves. Just remember to maintain a safe distance and stick to the shadows.
Hogwarts Legacy is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, and PC. A Switch version is currently in development.
