The Season of the Malignant in Diablo 4 brings forth exciting additions, offering players new opportunities to bolster their gear. To acquire these upgrades, players will need to fulfill specific chapter requirements within the seasonal journey.

These upgrades, known as legendary aspects, allow players to imbue their gear with powerful legendary effects. Typically, players can acquire these aspects by venturing into dungeons or extracting them from other legendary gear.

Each class in Diablo 4 has its own unique legendary aspect for Season 1. The Druids have the Subterranean Aspect, the Barbarians have the Aspect of Ancestral Charge, and the Necromancers have the Aspect of Gore Quills.

The Season of the Malignant update in Diablo 4 brings a plethora of new content for players to discover. Along with the new seasonal quest line, players can also find new high-quality items and seven additional legendary aspects to enhance their gear. To obtain the class-specific aspects, players must complete Chapter 1 of their Season 1 journey. However, unlocking the other aspects requires the completion of Chapters 5 and 6. Therefore, players who wish to enhance their gear loadout should prioritize swiftly completing the seasonal chapters.

Aspect of Audacity

- In Diablo 4, each legendary item contains a unique legendary effect that is already attached to the gear. However, players have the option to apply these effects onto their rare quality gear using legendary aspects. To obtain these aspects, players can complete dungeons and add the associated aspect to the Codex of Power or extract them from other legendary gear. In the first season of Diablo 4, players will also receive copies of legendary aspects through the seasonal journey, which are typically obtained through random drops.

The Aspect of Audacity is a season-exclusive legendary aspect that can enhance the gear of any class. This powerful utility aspect becomes available after completing Chapter 6 of Diablo 4 Season 1. It can be applied to various pieces of armor and accessories, including Shields. The unique ability it provides is the ability to stun nearby enemies within a certain range for a duration of 2–4 seconds. This stun effect is triggered when there are five or more enemies within reach. Although the ability has a cooldown of 20 seconds, it proves invaluable in crowd control situations and when dealing with overwhelming enemy encounters, such as those found in Nightmare Dungeons or Helltide.

Craven Aspect

Aspect of Ancestral Charge

The Craven Aspect, one of the two universal legendary aspects introduced in Season 1 of Diablo 4, becomes accessible to players upon completing Chapter 5 of the season. Similar to the Aspect of Audacity, this utility aspect can only be applied to Boots and Amulets. It empowers the player with a 20–40 percent increase in movement speed when they are moving away from enemies that have been Slowed or Chilled. This aspect appears to be particularly beneficial for an Ice Sorcerer build or a Frost Archer Rogue build, where the player will frequently encounter Chilled enemies and will need to constantly remain in motion, especially considering the vulnerability of these classes.

Upon completion of Season 1 Chapter 1, Diablo 4 Barbarians unlock the mighty Aspect of Ancestral Charge. This legendary aspect, exclusive to Barbarians this season, provides a significant boost to their capabilities. The Aspect can be applied to various equipment, such as One and Two-Handed Weapons, Gloves, Amulets, and Rings. By doing so, the Barbarian's Charge skill gains the power to summon four Ancients who charge alongside, unleashing 50–100 percent of the base damage. This Aspect proves invaluable to Barbarians who rely on Charge in their build, offering enhanced skill range and increased damage potential against larger groups of foes. Additionally, the Aspect's Knockback effect provides excellent crowd control, further solidifying its usefulness.

Subterranean Aspect

Aspect of Gore Quills

The Subterranean Aspect is the new legendary feature introduced for Druids in Diablo 4. It can be obtained after completing Season 1 Chapter 1. This aspect has versatile applications as it can be applied to various items including One- and Two-Handed Weapons, Gloves, Amulets, and Rings.

One of the significant benefits of the Subterranean Aspect is that it enables the activation of the Druid's Poison Creeper Skill alongside Landslide when used. Additionally, it empowers Earth Skills by increasing the damage dealt to Poisoned enemies by an extra 10–20 percent.

Druids who specialize in Poison-based builds like the Toxic Shredder Werewolf or the Landslide Druid can greatly benefit from this legendary aspect. By stacking damage on top of the Poison effect, it creates a formidable and potentially lethal combination for these builds.

After completing Chapter 1 of Diablo 4's Season of the Malignant, Necromancers unlock the class-specific Aspect of Gore Quills. This offensive aspect can be applied to various equipment such as One- and Two-Handed Weapons, Gloves, Rings, and Amulets. By consuming Blood Orbs, the Necromancer's Blood Lance Skill can summon additional Blood Lances that deal 20–50 percent base damage. These extra lances prioritize enemies that have not been previously targeted. With the potential to enhance one of the most potent Diablo 4 Necromancer builds, this legendary aspect increases the already formidable power of the Blood Lance Skill by allowing the spawn of more lances, ultimately elevating its damage output.

Aspect of Pestilent Points

Aspect of Searing Wards

The newest legendary feature tailored specifically for Diablo 4's Rogues is both straightforward and impactful as it amplifies the potential of one of the Rogue's fundamental abilities. Known as the Aspect of Pestilent Points, this feature can be imbued into various pieces of equipment including One and Two-Handed Weapons, Gloves, Rings, and Amulets. It bestows a potent Poison Imbue effect on every third shot of the Rogue's Puncture Skill, with a formidable potency ranging from 100 to 150 percent. Since Puncture is a core ability for Rogues, this aspect serves as an excellent means to consistently unleash Poison damage onto adversaries, necessitating no wait time for cooldowns on skills such as Poison Trap and Poison Imbuement, as it automatically applies Poison to the Puncture Skill.

Despite not being the optimal choice for Diablo 4 Sorcerers, Fire builds can still benefit from the new legendary aspect called the Aspect of Searing Wards. This aspect adds versatility to the Sorcerer's Firewall Skill. While primarily offensive, it can only be applied to Helms, Chest Armor, Pants, and Amulets. This limitation is likely due to its defensive utility, which grants a free cast of Firewall after consuming 100–200 Mana. Additionally, Firewall created by this aspect can block Small Missiles, enhancing the Sorcerer's defenses. Normally used to engulf enemies in flames and inflict Burning damage, this aspect adds a defensive aspect by allowing Firewall to intercept projectiles, thus increasing the Sorcerer's survivability.

Diablo 4 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
