Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon revolutionizes the beloved series by enhancing its core gameplay features for a contemporary audience. With revamped combat, customization, and recovery mechanics, the game offers a traditional experience in its story mode. As fans reach the end of the fifth chapter, they can expect a satisfactory level of replayability, a characteristic often associated with FromSoftware's post-game offerings, including a New Game+ mode. However, Armored Core 6 takes this replayability to new heights, with post-game missions and an innovative approach to New Game+ that allows players to alter key story moments and unlock fresh endings.
After a lengthy absence, Armored Core 6 introduces a new generation of gamers to FromSoftware's enduring franchise. It combines cherished elements from the classic titles with enhancements inspired by the company's recent releases. The game features an extensive customization system and various updates, offering players the opportunity to personalize their experience. Formidable enemies and challenging boss battles provide a true test of skill for even the most experienced AC Pilots. To help players overcome these obstacles, the game introduces new additions such as Repair Kits and checkpoints, enabling players to experiment with different builds.
Armored Core 6's New Game+ Features Exclusive Missions
Fans can expect their initial playthrough of Armored Core 6's story mode to last about 20 hours on average. However, completing the game and seeing the credits roll is just the beginning of the true experience. With the introduction of New Game+ in Armored Core 6, fans have the opportunity to replay the campaign from the very first Sortie mission onwards. Embarking on this second playthrough reveals exclusive missions and unlockable content that adds a new dimension to the game. These missions, including a fresh Decision Mission, grant players the ability to deviate from their original path, potentially leading to a different ending.
Upon entering New Game+ mode in Armored Core 6, players gain access to three additional missions, exciting new arena battles, and a variety of Assembly items. The first mission provides an alternative version of the Dam Complex attack from the first playthrough, giving players the option to refuse the attack. The second mission, exclusively available in New Game+, is a pivotal Decision Mission titled "Prevent Corporate Salvage of New Tech," which must be completed for the coveted "Good Ending" in the second playthrough. Lastly, the third mission requires players to defend the Dam Complex, following their initial refusal in Chapter 1.
New Game++ Takes Replayability to a Whole New Level
The New Game++ mode in Armored Core 6 significantly enhances the replay value of the game. With 14 exclusive and alternative missions, players have plenty of opportunities to experience new content. In fact, just the first chapter of Armored Core 6 alone includes five of these missions, allowing players to diverge from the main path early on. Additionally, players who have already completed the requirements for the first two endings can strive for a Secret Ending, which is only accessible through specific choices in New Game++. However, accessing this ending requires at least a third playthrough.
Armored Core 6 stands out from other titles in FromSoftware's current lineup. Its vehicular gameplay and linear story missions break away from the developers' typical modern RPG formula. Despite its limited world, the New Game+ and New Game++ modes in Armored Core 6 offer a level of replayability that surpasses many of FromSoftware's recent games. Fans who rise to the challenge of overcoming the story mode and venture into subsequent playthroughs will discover a surprising amount of new content.
Armored Core 6 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
