In Fate/ Samurai Remnant, players will quickly discover the intricacies of the combat system, which is both complex and engaging. The game encourages players to carefully observe and respond to their opponents' moves, requiring them to dodge enemy combos, strike during brief openings, and effectively respond to deadly attacks.
The game wastes no time in familiarizing players with the concept of "Deadly Attacks," devastating strikes that can inflict significant damage if landed. To advance in the game, players must swiftly learn how to interrupt these Deadly Attacks, as they are commonly employed by the majority of enemies.
How to Interrupt Deadly Attacks
When an enemy in Fate/Samurai Remnant is about to launch a Deadly Attack, they will emit a red glow as a warning. This glow lasts for a short moment before the attack begins. Iori has the ability to disrupt these Deadly Attacks by unleashing a powerful strike on the enemy while they are glowing. Successfully landing a strong attack on an enemy in the midst of preparing a Deadly Attack will stun them, rendering them susceptible to further attacks and providing Iori and Saber with an advantageous position.
In addition to heavy attacks, Iori can also halt Deadly Attacks by utilizing his Magecraft abilities. However, this method may not be as effective against most enemies early in the game due to the scarcity of magecraft gems. On the other hand, Saber can utilize their Affinity Attacks to interrupt Deadly Attacks, offering an alternative solution if the enemy is out of range for a heavy attack. Generally, it is more advisable for Iori to interrupt Deadly Attacks with his heavy attacks rather than spending gems or relying on Affinity Attacks.
How to Interrupt Deadly Attacks by Servants
When facing Servants or strong enemies with a Shell Gauge, simply relying on heavy attacks will not suffice to prevent Deadly Attacks. To effectively interrupt their Deadly Attacks, players must utilize powerful attacks such as Saber's Affinity Attacks. Therefore, it is advisable for players to maintain a reserve of Affinity, ensuring they have enough to execute an Affinity Attack when necessary. This strategy becomes especially important during the Prologue when players assume control of Saber in a battle against Lancer. At certain points, Lancer will initiate a Deadly Attack, and the game will prompt players to swiftly counter it by employing an Affinity Attack.
Fate/Samurai Remnant is available for PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
