Shield Machine Walkthrough
After the monumental success of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Capcom released several DLC packs, one of which puts players in the shoes of Chris Redfield in the Not a Hero DLC. As the story unfolds, players must track down Lucas, the surviving son of the psychotic Jack Baker. However, before the final showdown with Lucas can begin, players must first navigate and overcome the challenging shield machine trap set by Lucas. To track down Lucas, who escaped during the main campaign of Resident Evil 7, players must first remove the bomb from Chris's arm. Afterwards, head back to the main tunnel and use the clown key at the main console to gain access to the shield machine. If enough ancient coins have been collected by this point, players can unlock rewards at the top of the stairs to the left of the console. These rewards include a steroid shot for 3 coins, which increases maximum health, and a stabilizer for 5 coins, which improves reload dexterity. If players only have enough coins for one reward, they should pick the upgrade that best suits their play style. However, it's recommended to choose the health boost from the steroid shot, as players will soon be forced to fight off multiple enemies in close quarters.
As players make their way towards the shield machine entrance, they should ensure that they are well-equipped for the upcoming battle. A quick stop to grab the loot crate and shotgun shells at the back of the room is recommended, followed by a thorough check of all equipment. Once players enter the main chamber, the doors will lock and enemies will start appearing from the mold piles. It's important to act fast and grab the RAMROD ammo on the crate to the left to prepare for the fight ahead.
Save your RAMROD ammo for the white molded in the first wave, which will appear predominantly in front of you along with standard molded. Use Chris' punch attack on staggered enemies as much as possible. Once you defeat the first batch of around 10 molded, Lucas will make some comments and a four-legged molded will break through the crates where the RAMROD ammo was found. The second wave of about 10 molded will include four-legged molded. Don't forget to strategize your ammo usage and attacks wisely.
As the first two waves of enemies fall, two massive white molded creatures will burst through the crates at the room's back. If players can evade them and make their way to the rear of the shield generator, they can climb the stairs to grab two crates and a box of RAMROD ammunition for a much-needed resupply in the midst of battle. Utilizing a similar tactic to the white molded boss fight, players can deal substantial damage by hitting the white molded with RAMROD ammo, followed by a rapid succession of Thor's Hammer shotgun blasts.
After defeating the two menacing white molded, Lucas will reach out to Chris, desperately imploring for the twisted game to come to a close. It is then revealed that the entire facility is primed with explosives, adding to the already unnerving atmosphere. With little time to spare, players must locate a vent on the ground and quickly interact with it, creating a path to escape. Navigating through the air vents, the next grate must be located and dropped through in order to evade the shield machine's clutches. Resident Evil 7 can be played on a variety of platforms, including PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
